Calif. Senate rejects $7 billion for inmate medical care
By Jeffrey Rock
California's Republican Senators voted to withhold critical medical and mental health care to California's prison inmate population. If they prevail they will effectively sentence a significant number of prisoners to death. They claim that a federal deal to release prisoners will address the problem but they only have 10% of the needed health care beds: releasing 90% of the state's prinsoners is not likely.
