A big selling point for using GM crops has been claims of less need for pesticides. But in the time since they were first introduced to us (without our knowledge) in 1996, GM crops have bred resistance in both weeds and pests, and through 2011 pesticide use alone increased by seven percent. This from a study published in 'Environmental Sciences Europe'. Resistance in 'super-weeds' and 'super-bugs' is on the rise.
