Cholera unrest hits Haiti capital - Americas - Al Jazeera English
By Mac McKinney
Police in Haiti have fired tear gas into a camp for internally displaced people in Port-au-Prince, the capital, following violent riots. The unrest followed protests against the presence of United Nations peacekeepers (many say occupiers) in the country, as locals become increasingly angry over a cholera outbreak that many people, and not merely Haitians, blame on UN Nepalese troops. The cholera strain is an Asian strain.
