I Have Covid-19 and I'm Not Happy About It

By John Hawkins

Suddenly I'm sneezing and thought I had the flu but whatta ya gonna do?

I'm a bit pissed off.

Been coughing and sneezin' and achin' and painin'. Tough breathin' . Today I took a home Covid-19 test and sure as sugar melts in tea I got the virus, according to the kit.

This is perplexing. I don't leave my burb home much at all, and certainly not since the onset of Covid-19 in 2020. On the other hand, we do get deliveries here quite often. I'm a certified Covid-19 contact officer. So, I'm isolating. Browbeating myself for practice. (Who did you know and when did you start knowing them?) Which is what I was doing anyway.

I'm bummed because I took a vaccine against my better judgement (Novavax) and was hoping that the shots would ward off the monster. Nuh.

I'm in the high risk category, so maybe my days are numbered this way, too. Sigh.

On the other hand, I should be to able finagle another poem out of this outrageous situation.
