Media Feeding Frenzy
By Thelma Mueller
President Trump in hot water again, but that is no surprise to a White House that has been in constant damage control mode since the president took office.
::::::::
"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go."This was all it took for mainstream media to go off the deep end and plot President Trump's so-called downfall. The 24/7 coverage has been non-stop with visions of a Watergate-like scandal looming in the near future.
What is the president guilty of? The charge is, "obstruction of justice," according to the media and alluding to the president trying to influence fired FBI Director, James Comey, into shutting down the agency's investigation into former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn's involvement with the Russians. The media has waged an all out war on the president and the term "obstruction of justice," has been thrown around loosely with some Democrates calling for impeachment at the latest onslaught on the president and his presidency.
Did the president try to "influence, obstruct or impede" the investigation? We don't know for sure but that hasn't mattered to a news hungry and Trump hating media. They've already hung him out to dry with, "signed, sealed and delivered," splashed across the various networks. Now, all it takes is for the Special Prosecutor to come in and put the final seal of approval and make it legit.
It seems that when it comes to the president, there are two sides, those that love him and those who hate him and his "not your kind of politics." I'll admit the loose-lipped president hasn't made it easy either but this obsession with toppling the president is hard to watch and even harder to stomach.
The stand-off is here. Who will come out the winner in this war between the president and the media? It will depend on the president and his ability to volley back the shots to where it came from. Until then, we will have to put up with the feeding frenzy and hope someone has the guts to shut it down.
