Poem - BRIDGE

By David McCauley

This my first post to OPED. I wrote this poem in December of 2008. It was inspired by our Golden Gate Bridge. I completed the oil painting FROM BAKER BEACH in April, 2003. - Dave McCauley

::::::::

BRIDGE

Oh, spanner of the blue inlet

Ghostly sails glide beneath your lofty deck

As the fireball sets, your towers glow

with flaming hue of crimson sky

Moist air engulfs you

as your cables breathe Pacific fog

Scuttling traffic lights line your path

Snakes of red and white slip through the dark

From churning water to sighing stars

Night is lifted in your arms *
