The Upward Evolutionary Arc

There is an evolutionary arc
It is a spiritual arc
As well as a physical one

This arc requires that we grow
Spiritually
Not just physically

If we do not grow
In a spiritual way
We will physically die out

Growing spiritually requires
Among other things
That we put an end to war

The evolutionary arc
Cannot continue
If war is not transcended

Our very survival
Demands the establishment
Of peace in our world

This is not a religious belief
This is a fact of nature
This is a fact of life

Those who believe
That war is inevitable
Ignore the process of nature

Those who believe
That peace is impossible
Ignore the facts of life

It is time to evolve
Physically and spiritually
Beyond where we are today

It is time to follow
A path of survival
That leads to our future

It is time to move forward
And continue
The upward evolutionary arc

Authors Bio:

Jim Bush is a 67 year old, Vietnam-era veteran, currently living in Texas. He was raised in a military family. His father received the Silver Star for directing troops while under air attack at Clark Field in the Phillipines, survived the Bataan Death March, and spent three and a half years in a Japanese POW camp. He also received the Purple Heart for wounds received while a  POW. Jim served as an army photographer in Okinawa and Korea. In 1987 he traveled to the war zones of Nicaragua with a veteran's group dedicated to stopping the Contra War.
