Lies and more lies: Why are we still at war?

By Jesse Mathewson

A rundown on the continuing war and broken promises.

::::::::

For almost eight full years, we heard non-stop protests occurring regarding the war in Iraq, and yet today scarcely eight months after Obama was sworn in the war continues and more soldiers are being sent, this time to Afghanistan. â??My determination is to get this right. I'm going to take a very deliberate process in making those decisions," Obama said after talks at the White House with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper,â? Reports Stephen Collinson; September 17, 2009 of the Sydney Morning Herald. You heard it folks - one cannot even find news about this ongoing â??warâ? or the troop deployments that are occurring at an increasing rate.

Your wonderful president who stated very emphatically that he would â??fixâ? all the ills of the previous administration has yet to follow through on his promises regarding the economy, and the war. For someone like me, the â??warâ? is a sticky situation. I firmly believe we never should have become involved in the protracted engagement, I also believe that this nation caused the attacks to occur through our constant meddling in others affairs. However, is this the point- does it really matter? Alternatively, should we concentrate on finding out WHY this president has lied on more than one occasion and why the national media of this country is strangely silent about it?

UNITED NATIONS, Sep. 28, 2009 (Reuters) â?? â??President Barack Obama has not fulfilled his promises to change U.S. foreign policy and may not be fully in control of the government, Cuba's foreign minister told the United Nations on Monday.â? The changes have not occurred and it is not the fault of the MINORITY Republican Party. Think about it, the Democratic Party holds the Majority and the Presidency. So when is he going to keep his promises? I for one am tired of this war, I for one feel that no matter what happens this nation will lose because of this war. It is no Vietnam except in length of time spent there. We have been fortunate in that our losses are nowhere close to Vietnam era levels. Does this make it better, where are the leftist protestors like â??Hanoiâ? Jane and others for this war, why have they gone strangely silent?

Is not it time to hold this administration accountable for its actions regarding this war, and its promises? So far, this administration has spent more than every other administration combined and it has done nothing with any real positive affect. I understand the economy takes time, however, if you are going to prop up your friends companies than should not the American people at least see a positive benefit. If you are going to double troop deployments into Afghanistan, shouldn't the American people see an end in sight?

Serious questions for a serious time.
