The Return of McCarthyism

By Jason Paz

This article highlights a remarkable historical shift. Capitalism has become the primary economic engine for the world especially in China. That nation was quick to recover from the recession and is now enjoying an eight percent annual rate of growth. The former bastion of capitalism the USA has become mired in kleptocracy, plutocracy and oligopoly a Valhalla for the rich. McCarthyism has returned with all its ugliness.

Jobs, Jobs and More Jobs

Hourly Workers are Due a 50% Pay Hike

All workers deserve a yearly pay hike at least equal to advances in worker productivity. Over the recent decades, the declining labor unions have not been able to win productivity gains for their members. Indeed, real wages have remained flat for thirty years. The managerial stock owning classes have pocketed productivity increases during the period. This has led to much of the excesses in the stock and housing markets. It has led to a huge disparity of wealth and political power between the idle rich and the working poor.
Rather than waiting for the EFCA to bear fruit at some future point, I suggest pay packets to be raised 50% across the boards.

Differentiating Communism from Capitalism

Whenever the old-time Communists took over an area, one of their first acts was to execute the local labor union leaders. It wasn't for ideological reasons. The Reds usually executed potential rivals for power.

Ironically, the right wing detested organized labor and hung labels on them such as Anarchist and Communist. On the advent of the Cold War an Iron Curtain descended on Europe to separate the Communist East from the [nominally] Capitalist West.

The Return of McCarthyism

The lunatic war mongering fringe ended our Republic in 1950. When they convinced Harry Truman of the Red Menace, he agreed to scare the citizens into the massive and perpetual military build-up later known as the military/industrial complex. This was the end of America, as envisioned by the founding fathers.
Since then the US has engaged in only two positive acts: Civil Rights and Medicare. We saw the positive effects on Meet the Press. The progressive black President promoted health care reform [Medicare]. In rebuttal, the Republicans demonstrated all the lunacy and viciousness that results from abandoning the high moral path of the founding fathers.

This highlights a remarkable historical shift. Capitalism has become the primary economic engine for much of the world especially in China. That nation was quick to recover from the recession and is now enjoying an eight percent annual rate of growth. The former bastion of capitalism the USA has become mired in kleptocracy, plutocracy and oligopoly a Valhalla for the rich.

With little grasp of history and no sense of humor, the political right has regressed back to the McCarthy Era.

The End of ABC, CBS, and NBC

They did not dispute the FOX allegations they missed covering the conservative march on Washington. Thanks to a tweet from Daily Kos TV http://dkostv.com/r/002166 the GOP announced they were dead in the water. I had visions of baby seals pleading from an ice floe.

Max Baucus Should Write the Final Single Payer Draft

With a flick of the pen, Max can nationalize the health insurance industry. This would eliminate petty bickering about who does what in the new scheme of things. Industry executives can make license plates in prison until they pay back what they stole.

Some People Need Killing

The Palestinians support several crews who have fired missiles on my town. We have asked the Palestinian people to overthrow the murderous monsters who lead them down the road to perdition. Instead, they dance in the streets every time they kill a Jew.
Americans suffer a similar problem with the State of South Carolina. The State suffers the worst health care in the nation, but they elect scurrilous leaders who support the murderous health insurance companies. Support is too mild a word for the racist slurs and the wretched attacks that emanate from that state almost daily [secession indeed!]. Famous for hikes along the Appalachian Trail, the officials enjoy immunity from prosecution for sedition. The disastrous Civil War that followed the firing on Fort Sumpter has taught them nothing.
The US military is not to blame for the mistakes of the civilian leadership. They were the ones who chose to invade Afghanistan instead of South Carolina.

Consumers are workers who produce the goods and services they buy. After the corporations kept real wages flat for thirty years, consumption and housing markets fell exacerbated by widespread fraud in the financial, heath and manufacturing sectors. Unemployment soared.

Teabaggers and Glenn Beck

The situation reminds me of Seattle in 1999. A great number of people came there to protest the actions of the world leaders assembled there. The government brought in so-called security forces and hired young toughs to initiate violence among the peaceful demonstrators. The rowdies stirred up the crowd. The security forces hauled innocents off to jail and the demonstrations fizzled out.

The Republicans have obstructed and delayed much needed legislation. Will they succeed to ruin the country?

Authors Bio:
Born a month before Pearl Harbor, I attended world events from an early age. My first words included Mussolini, Patton, Sahara and Patton. At age three I was a regular listener to Lowell Thomas.
My mom was an industrial nurse a member of the AFL/CIO. My dad was a painting contractor. We shopped at the Working Man's Store.
Dad's reading matter was the Old Mole the house organ of the Socialist Workers Party. I played the saxophone and became a young fan of Charlie Parker, Lester Young and Duke Ellington. Naturally, I gravitated to the Civil Rights movement.
After college to avoid the draft, I joined the US Army Reserve. Alas, this came to crowd control, which was a euphemism for busting radical potheads. When I ducked out of this duty, my commander bundled me off to a unit doomed to go to Vietnam. Ironically, my old unit went to Vietnam and the new one stayed home.
I studied economics in graduate school where I watched America go mad with war. Afterwards, I joined the rat race for a decade.
When Ronnie Reagan became President, I took up residence in Israel.
The 11 books listed below describe my adventures in Israel.
The articles reflect additional thoughts that expand on the author's ten volumes Genesis Begins the Millennia. The work begins in 1995 with a fictional account of ordinary Israelis absorbed with everyday events. There are extraordinary happenings the characters gradually recognize as portents of the Messianic Age. Volumes four and five show why the Messiah decided to delay His arrival.
Volumes six through ten [Tradebombers] begin six weeks before the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy. Again, the characters portray ordinary citizen reaction to extraordinary events.
