President Obama will have to choose between prosecuting two wars based on lies or risking his own life by trying for peace. But there is a third option available, too.
::::::::
What if someone convinced you that 9/11 was not the work of bin Laden, al Qeada or "Muslim extremists"?
Would you support the war in Afghanistan (ostensibly to get bin Laden)?
Who would you think of if someone said the word "terrorist"?
What if someone convinced you that agents of the U.S. government planned and carried out these attacks?
Would you be angry?
Would you want the agents brought to justice?
If we got the truth about 9/11, and that truth contradicted what our leaders have told us, we would want different policies. We would see the world differently and realize our biggest enemies hide behind the flag instead of in caves.
What if someone convinced you that a "lone nut" did not kill the Kennedy brothers?
Would you want to know who did it? Or why?
What if someone convinced you that the Kennedy brothers, while far from perfect, died because they tried to make peace?
What if someone convinced you that the Kennedys blocked the path to perpetual war in which a group of people would become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams?
Will President Obama continue to prosecute two wars (Iraq and Afghanistan) based on lies?
Will he play the role of peacemaker and go the way of martyrs?
Or will we, the public, identify the real killers and liars and demand they be brought to justice - and spare the President this dilemma?
