New York Post half-apologizes for offensive racist Cartoon,
Why we should not  accept the apology.

New York State Senator Eric Adams stands in front of the New York Post building holding a cartoon that ran in the Post Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in New York. A New York Post cartoon that some have interpreted as comparing President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee gunned down by police drew outrage Wednesday from civil rights leaders and elected officials who said it echoed racist stereotypes of blacks as monkeys

The Lame Half Apology From The New York Post:

Wednesday's Page Six cartoon - caricaturing Monday's police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut - has created considerable controversy.

It shows two police officers standing over the chimp's body: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill," one officer says.

It was meant to mock an ineptly written federal stimulus bill.

But it has been taken as something else - as a depiction of President Obama, as a thinly veiled expression of racism.

This most certainly was not its intent; to those who were offended by the image, we apologize.

However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past - and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback.

To them, no apology is due.

Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon - even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.

My Letter To The New York Post Post Editor:
To the so-called New York Post Editor-

I found your racist portrayal of President Obama as a dead chimpanzee to be higly offensive and not at all funny. In fact, having lived through the assasinations of JFK, Bobby Kennedy,  and Martin Luther King as a very young child, I was horrified by the image.

I strongly suggest that you re-evaluate what you find funny or amusing. Racism, hatred, violence, and comparisons of our beloved President to an assasinated ape are not funny in the least.

I will no longer read or purchase your trashy offensive tabloid rag publication, not even for puppy training or litter box lining or bird cage lining. I would not subject my beloved pets to portrayals of other pets shot dead by frightened gun happy idiotic police.

Have you even read the stimulus bill?

Your half apology editorial is not accepted, or acceptable.
