You need the "1984" code book to realize that W dreams the bottom 99% would aspire only to a futureless life.

By winston

Look at the crimes. As W is trotting around trying to burnish his legacy behind the scenes he is trying to add new orders shafting employees-the specific ones who provide Homeland Security no less, as well as augmenting his detrimental work against the environment. In W's US only the top 1% can afford the required air cleaning devices to protect us from the spoiled air we breathe which W produced as a gift to the top 1%.

::::::::

He would have us all be boot cleaners and butt lickers so that his chums could be the only ones with hope.

The "1984" code book would explain all the GOP propaganda so clearly. Of course you can't get it unless you want a visit to the "Ministry of Love". The propaganda, mostly about "GWOT" and all of the crimes associated with it makes the common masses apathetic and in awe of their protector, big bro 43.

"Ownership society" means the GOP wants to take Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid from the poor huddling masses. "Joe the Plumber" said that he and his friends were insulted by Social Security and wanted no part of it. Secretly the GOP hopes that those who don't contribute to their coffers, their top 1% "Ranger" and "Pioneer" pigs feeding at the trough would immediately suffer the fate of the unproductive in the movie "Soylent Green".

The secret is that Reagan ploy of trying to redistribute all of our money to the rich was only a model for W. Reagan might have succeeded in destroying the lives of the bottom 99%, but his tax cuts were revoked. Reagan's plots were expanded by "Bubble boy." The theory that GOP ghouls adhere to, and the vacuous W implemented, is that if there is no tax revenue then the social network programs would shrink-particularly if wars were implemented which naturally siphon off the majority of the tax revenues. No GOP leader was as empty-headed as big bro 43, who not only gave all of his chums in the top 1% huge tax cuts, but started 2 wars--against the unnamed "those who are against" forces of evil, without raising taxes. This has never happened in US history because the results would be predictably disastrous. How can you exorbitantly raise the cost for the US military and introduce a huge and expensive new "Orwellian" Homeland Security department without causing huge deficits? Throw into this toxic mix the typical GOP fare of paying no attention to their top 1% chums raping the unsuspecting US lower classes with the sub-prime mortgage scam-just the latest example of GOP deregulation failing, and you get economic catastrophe.

Herr Karl also hoped that if the dreamed for destruction of the social service network occurred, then the Democrats would have no programs to attract voters. Rove considers that having the common man suffering for a permanent GOP majority a fair trade as the bottom 99% is easily replaced. The GOP has always lied about their concerns for illegal immigrants-notice that the border security apparatus has not produced any results yet, and these unwashed masses can easily perform the tasks that the GOP has always hoped that non-blue blooded peons would provide-low-income, dead-end jobs such as boot cleaners and butt lickers. If the US had this residue of expendable people with no future then the each member of the middle class would fear that if they were not acquiescent that they would tumble into the pariah caste.

Now the GOP Senators gleefully want the big 3 US automakers-which represents 14% of the US economy, to fail. Who is going to come in to save them-to become the person to who introduces socialism to the US economy? No one other than that adherent of free-market enterprise big bro 43 will swallow up this role. It almost seems that the GOP planned it this way or that W is greatest flip-flopper in history-which is an anathema to the GOP. When he speaks of saving the automakers--and he will, he will proclaim that he was our protector in the "everlasting war against terrorism" so he'd naturally want to protect our economy also. Herr Karl will have him spew propaganda about how the Democrats allowed the economy to become weak and that W was just the man it as only he could prevent another attack in the homeland.

The GOP should be dealing with the fact that W's "GWOT" is tumbling apart as badly as his lack of governance has ruined our economy, but what is there that they could say? They can only hope that our failed economy will cause us to ignore the latest crises W's international policy has caused.

Big bro 43 did a secret a trip today. Maybe Rove will have the ignorant empty-suit W stand in front of another "Mission Accomplished" banner.

The article "Bush makes surprise Iraq visit to close out tenure" at

states "More than 4,209 members of the U.S. military have been killed in the war since it began five years and nine months ago. It has so far cost nearly $576 billion.
There are about 149,000 U.S. troops in Iraq. At the troop-level peak in October 2007, there were 170,000 U.S. military personnel in the country.
The new U.S.-Iraqi security pact goes into effect next month. It replaces a U.N. mandate that gives the U.S.-led coalition broad powers to conduct military operations and detain people without charge if they were believed to pose a security threat. The bilateral agreement changes some of those terms and calls for all American troops to be withdrawn by the end of 2011, in two stages."
Remember how the GOP, particularly those in the huge list of big bro 43 surrogates, accused Obama of being a surrender monkey for even speaking of timeliness. How W's boys talked about general horizons for withdrawal? All of the stink about conditions on the ground that McCain was always blathering about. Poof-that all disappeared. Iraq did the sane thing and laid out when the hated occupier-the US, had to depart. Big surprise!
The article can't even give W any propaganda points as it concludes "Bush credits last year's military buildup with the security gains in Iraq. Last month, attacks fell to the lowest monthly level since the war began in 2003.
But the successes are still viewed as fragile and reversible. Intermittent but high-profile bombings continue to shake confidence and the remaining high tensions between rival ethnic and religious groups raise questions about what will happen in Iraq after U.S. troops start withdrawing."

That doesn't deter his surrogates from providing us with misinformation. It always the plan for more than one person to go over Herr Karl's propaganda points with a minion throwing in a new twist. I wouldn't do well in Room 101 of the "Ministry of Love". When Perino starts talking about how the SOFA means W was successful, if I had a Julia I would be ratting her out.
The article "Perino: SOFA Means U.S. Can 'Celebrate The Victory' In Iraq» at

states "Ever since Iraq's cabinet "overwhelmingly approved" a proposed security agreement that mandates the full withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of 2011, the White House has been engaged in a rhetorical dance - in large part due to President Bush's long-held opposition to "artificial timetables."
On Monday, White House press secretary Dana Perino tried to mold the agreement to fit her boss's view, saying that the withdrawal time line contained within is only "aspirational" and tied to conditions on the ground remaining favorable. (It's not). Today, Perino went further, claiming that the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) represents a celebration of victory in Iraq:
Q: Can you remind us again why this agreement is not the timetable that the president fought so hard against? [...]
PERINO: This is a mutually agreed to agreement. And that's what one of the things that is different about an arbitrary date for withdrawal when you say you're going to leave win or lose. We believe that the conditions are such now that we are able to celebrate the victory that we've had so far and establish...a strategic framework agreement."
Remember how big bro 43 always pratted on about how he listened to the military commanders? Well he wouldn't be having his spokesperson going about victory if he did as the article concludes "The most recent National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) completed last month suggests that Perino shouldn't be bringing out the champagne bottles just yet either. The new NIE reportedly warns that "unresolved ethnic and sectarian tensions in Iraq could unleash a new wave of violence, potentially reversing the major security and political gains achieved over the last year."
In fact, even CentCom commander Gen. David Petraeus will not use the term "victory" or "winning" regarding Iraq. But more importantly, as the Wonk Room's Matt Duss has noted, there will never be any "victory" there. "Let's understand," Duss writes, "there is no plausible scenario in which the decision to invade Iraq can or will ever be vindicated. In the best case, we will have simply averted disaster."

The article "Senate panel cites Rumsfeld for abuse policy -- Ex-Navy counsel believes interrogation techniques caused deaths and injuries of U.S. military in wars" at

http://www.ohio.com/news/nation/36032684.html

deals with a report that took eighteen months to prepare and states "U.S. abuses against detainees led to attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq, according to testimony by Alberto Mora, the former general counsel of the Navy. ''There are serving U.S. flag-rank officers who maintain that the first and second identifiable causes of U.S. combat deaths in Iraq - as judged by their effectiveness in recruiting insurgent fighters into combat - are, respectively, the symbols of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo,'' Mora testified."
Who is ultimately to blame? The article continues "It traced the abusive practices to President George W. Bush's written determination in February 2002 that the 1949 Geneva Conventions didn't apply to suspected al-Qaida and Taliban detainees. Condoleezza Rice, then the national security adviser, and other Cabinet officers took part in meetings where specific interrogation techniques were discussed, the report said."
W's boys in blue derailed our land of laws as the article continues "Former Joint Chiefs Chairman Air Force Gen. Richard Myers' decision to cut short a legal and policy review of the techniques ''undermined the military's review process,'' the report said. Haynes' effort to cut short the legal and policy review was ''inappropriate and undermined the military's review process,'' it said."

This new report cites his administration for torturing detainees-which has by itself made the US less safe by acting as a recruitment tool for al queda and its affiliates. His fired Secretary of Defense admitted that they couldn't kill as many terrorists as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were creating, yet big bro 43 says his term as a war-time president was joyful as the dumb red staters docilely listen with their eyes apathetically glazed.

The article "Report on Detainee Abuse Blames Top Bush Officials"

states that " most of the senior officials named in the report have left government or soon will" but quotes Sens. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.) as "But I would hope that the new administration, as well as the Defense Department . . . would look for ways, where appropriate, to hold people accountable.
Even if no legal action is taken, Levin said, "it's essential that we take on these kinds of challenges because what's at stake here is the reputation of our country.""
W has ruined our moral standing! We previously were the beacon of hope in a despairing world and if our troops were mistreated we could confidently reproach the offending country until big bro 43 failed us yet again.

The article places the origination of this assault to our laws and morality clearly at W's hands as it continues "But Senate investigators said the seeds of the policy originated in a Feb. 7, 2002, memo signed by President Bush declaring that the Geneva Conventions, which outline standards for the humane treatment of detainees, did not apply to captured al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters. As early as that spring, top administration officials, including then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, participated in meetings where the use of coercive measures was discussed, the panel said, drawing on a statement by Rice released this year."
Of course when approached with this the White House declined to comment as how can they refute facts? It is clear we've heard enough of their propaganda as W's polls have reached all-time lows.

We've known about this before, but as the article continues "The full report was unanimously approved by the committee late last month and sent to the Pentagon with no dissenting views, Levin said in an interview. Although much of the information has previously been made public, there are references to still-classified memos, including an Aug. 1, 2002, report to the CIA by then-Assistant Attorney General Jay S. Bybee, who headed the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, evaluating the legality of specific interrogation techniques such as waterboarding."

And there is another new report that W's boys will have to minimize as they drearily try to rehabilitate W's poll numbers. Good luck you bozos! If they had ever tried actually providing governance of the US rather than engaging in Herr Karl's perpetual campaign to achieve a permanent GOP superiority then we wouldn't have all of these crises.

There are so many failings to deal with that maybe we'll all ignore W's last minute efforts to shaft the bottom 99%.

Yesterday, as what Herr Karl would label a parting gift, Big bro 43 issued an executive order stripping the collective bargaining rights of thousands of federal employees. Who are getting shafted? This order focuses on those employees whose primary function is intelligence, counterintelligence, investigative, or national security work as W said "it would be inconsistent with 'national security requirements' to allow those employees to engage in collective bargaining with respect to the conditions of their employment."

W is always prattling about Homeland Security and but how can he keep us safe without these people? Maybe it is just propaganda.

Remember how W pledged to be a "uniter not divider"--which would change the political environment? Maybe that was just a play on words that propagandists are wont to do.

The article "Bush Last-Minute Rules Cement Environmental Legacy" at

http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2008/12/10-6

deals with W's last minute efforts to ruin our air and water as the article states "In his waning weeks in the White House, U.S. President George W. Bush is drawing more fire than ever as he presides over a steady stream of environmentally unfriendly regulations meant to last into the Obama administration.
"While the first 100 days of the Bush administration initiated perhaps the worst period of environmental deregulation in American history, the last 100 days of a Bush presidency could be even worse," the staff of the House of Representatives global warming committee wrote just before the November 4 election."
Who is helping? Take a guess. Will it be the 99% or the top 1%? The article states "These last-minute rules overwhelmingly favor industry over human health and welfare, Bush's environmental opponents say. And they are moving through the federal bureaucracy at a pace that will ensure they are in effect when President-elect Barack Obama takes office on January 20.
This means the new rules will be more difficult for the next administration and Congress to undo."
The article "Obama Positioned to Quickly Reverse Bush Actions -- Stem Cell, Climate Rules Among Targets of President-Elect's Team" at

states "Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of
about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly
undone to reverse White House policies on climate change, stem cell research,
reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats,
campaign aides and experts working with the transition team."

Suffice it to say that this is all predictable. We don't even get incensed. Why should we? In "Law and Order" Jack McCoy would say we are allowed to look at the pattern of criminal activity to help determine the crooks' guilt. This vile crew has constantly shafted the bottom 99% while using hypocrisy aimed at the hatred and fear of our dull, common masses. God bless their weary souls they live in constant fear that their jobs and health care will be stolen away. They notice how their children's schools as well as the US infrastructure have been deteriorating. Every once in a while Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff warns of imminent attacks from the undefined "those who are against us". All the while they hear how big bro 43 is protecting them from "GWOT" and economic disaster, but they wonder how. Nothing that is in their daily life has improved. Then they realize that they know people who lived in New Orleans or who lost their jobs, and they realize it could be much worse so they learn to hate "those who are against us" and love their protector big bro 43.

The sad fact is that we've pissed away so much into Iraq that could have been used to help our bottom 99%. The article "Rumsfeld on eve of Iraq war: 'If you think we're going to spend' $1 billion in Iraq, 'you're sadly mistaken.' At

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/12/13/sigir-rumsfeld/

states "A scathing new report by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction calls the reconstruction effort "a $100 billion failure," according to the New York Times, which obtained an advanced copy. It documents how the Pentagon "simply put out inflated measures of progress to cover up" failures. It also reveals how officials were "operating by the seat of their pants.

The history records how Mr. Garner presented Mr. Rumsfeld with several rebuilding plans, including one that would include projects across Iraq.
"What do you think that'll cost?" Mr. Rumsfeld asked of the more expansive plan.
"I think it's going to cost billions of dollars," Mr. Garner said.
"My friend," Mr. Rumsfeld replied, "if you think we're going to spend a billion dollars of our money over there, you are sadly mistaken."
All that was accomplished in the Iraq reconstruction was that a building would be built and a group of insurgents would destroy it ad infinitum. Suppose that money could be spent in the US? More people would have jobs and maybe with more money they could actually have a future and hope rather than being bullied and lied to by big bro 43.

Authors Bio:
Winston Smith is an ex-Social Worker. I worked in child welfare, and in medical settings and in homeless settings. In the later our facility was geared as a permanent address for people to apply for welfare. Once they received that we could send them to facilities in which their welfare paid the bill and provided enough for a meager existence. We also referred people to vocational rehabilitation services. Many of the people who came to us were people who were clearly emotionally ill, but Reagan's slashing of the services for these people caused them to become homeless. One woman I dealt with-St. Jane, believed she was in direct communication with God, urinated freely without using the facilities and she had 47 bags of trash which were prized possessions. She got welfare and was sent to a facility were she could survive. The rule was that our facility could be used 1 time only as we had too many people who thought that the services that we provided we would lift them from the dire straights that they were in. Well, we provided our services for St. Jane around Thanksgiving. On Christmas Eve she was back with her 47 bags of trash and wanted to stay at our facility. I informed my superior of this situation, but we declined to provide services for St. Jane. She slept in front of our facility in a snowstorm. The local rag took the picture and excoriated us for what we did. The local welfare department asked her where she would like to live. St. Jane said Chicago because she liked the wind. She knew on one there. She and her 47 bags of trash of were carted onto a train for the windy city and never of again. The local welfare department was glad to get shed of her. Social welfare in the mid-1980's was geared to blame the victim. Ill people were sent home from hospitals were no one was going to help them because social welfare budgets were slashed by Reagan. Bush 41's â"thousand points of lightâ" was just another way to shaft the weakest in our society. Bush 43's faith based initiative was just another attempt to reduce social welfare services. Reagan's â"Just say Noâ" was the pinnacle of hypocrisy. No services for those who desperately needed them under the guise of tough love.

Obviously I became burnt out by too much indifference regarding our weak and weary. I couldn't look at desperate people and could not get myself to say that what I could offer them wouldn't really help themâ"”it would only get them out of my office to be another person's problem, until the local welfare department carted them away.

I had little interest in politics until the illegal Iraq War started. Growing up in the 1960's caused me to understand that the GOP used war to attract right-wing extremists to vote for them. When â"Tricky Dick'sâ" secret plan to end the Vietnam War unfolded into elongating our presence there for 8 years I knew that I would never believe a GOP war-monger again. I dislike Obama's plan to escalate our presence in Afghanistan and see it as a craven attempt to placate the GOP. Maybe he'll reduce the GOP's attacks against him, but it will at the expense of alienating his base.
