Dear People of WV Let's Make A Difference!

By kteachums

This is a request from a WV school teacher to the voters in her state.

::::::::

     Dear People of West Virginia, I'm one of your WV Public School Teachers.  I've been teaching for thirty-four years in this great state.  I've taught in the mountains of Tucker County and was born and raised in Marion County.  I'm a mother of four children.  Three of them are college graduates.  One is fifteen and I'm raising her alone.  My oldest child had breast cancer and my  youngest child suffers with asthma.  I am no stranger to medical bills.  I do have insurance so, I am one of the lucky ones.  Even with insurance, premiums are high.
I don't have to tell you there are many needs among the people in WV.  In Marion County many people have lost jobs.  I'm seeing more and more little children who are hungry.  The economy has been bad here for a long time.  When things go bad in the nation WV always sees  the pain ahead of time.I was never very political.

Before the primary race last year I began watching the young Barack Obama.  I spent hours on the computer each day and he was seeking supporters.  I began making Obama friends.  I can't tell you how excited I have been to come home and find news each day.  I turn on CNN and Fox.  I listen to things that are eye opening.  This campaign has been difficult.  I can't tell you how many lies young Barack has endured.  Yet, he has survived and truly wants to lead our great country.  He is intelligent and surrounds himself with great advisors and leaders who have made positive changes in our country.  Every week he fights a new lie put out by the GOP attack dogs.

The other day the blinking eyed  Sarah Palin called him a terrorist.  If John McCain dies in office this lady will become president.  She  got through the debates but, couldn't answer the simple questions Katie Curic asked her.  Like; "what do you read?"  She couldn't even state any court decisions that have influenced her.  It won't be long before we go to the polls on Election Day.  Many of you will not be voting.  I have already heard.  But, doing that guarantees a win for McCain/Palin in WV.  I am trying to encourage you to help .

We have a chance to change the way things are.  We  need to turn this state into a Democratic  state again.  Senator Byrd has asked for your help.  Governor Manchin needs you.  The Kennedy family, the Clinton family have all pleaded for your support.  I can remember standing on picket lines in the mountains years ago during the last teacher strike.  Coal miners in Tucker County stood on those lines with  teachers.  Today Barack and Joe Biden promise to support the unions.  They promise to bring new jobs back to our country.  They listen to the voices of teachers like me.  Today the young people are  supporting Barack Obama.  He is the candidate that reaches across the races and the generations.

John McCain promises more of the same.  Friends of mine call him McBush.Let's do this, people of West Virginia!  Tell Washington we have had enough.  We need our retirement .and our social security.   The veterans need to have care.  Our children need to be able to go to college.   We need health care in our country and jobs.   Obama/Biden promise all of this.   Get out and vote  Election Day and make a difference.  Vote for the Democratic ticket;  Obama/Biden .  Let's get back our dignity!                                                                             Sincerely,

Authors Bio:
I'm a public school kindergarten teacher in WV. I have four children of my own. Three are raised and through college. I am a single mother raising a 16 year old alone.
I am 58. I have two precious grandsons (age 5 and 14 months). I have a Master's Degree from West Virginia University. I've been teaching for 34 years. These days I train student teachers and work to make ends meet. I have been supporting Obama since before the Primaries. It has been very exciting. I've never been political before. I have enjoyed listening to Obama's speeches. My daughter (16) and I were in Disney World one Summer and went to see the Exhibit of Presidents. The first thing she said to me was I can't wait to see Obama become President. He belongs here with President Lincoln. I was amazed to hear her say that. The campaign wouldn't have been interesting without Obama. He is intelligent, verbal, and reminds me of great leaders during my youth. My daughter and I went to hear him before he became President. It was a special time I will treasure forever. I believe with all my heart that he will become one of the best Presidents we ever had.
