Looking for Bush Supporters

By Douglas g

I talked to One

::::::::

In a recent poll, 21% of Americans said they approved of the job President Bush is doing.  I found it a bit difficult to believe that over 20% of Americans still supported Bush even as the country edges toward economic collapse and wars rage.  It looks like Bush and the NeoCons gave Georgia the green light to invade S. Ossetia, and that shows the type of dangerous fools we have running most of the world.

So I decided to go out and find one of those Americans that still approve of the job Bush is doing.  It was a bit hard to find anyone at first, at least around in these parts, so I had to do a little traveling.

I finally found some people that still support Bush's presidency.  I went to the headquarters of Exxon-Mobil in Irving, Texas.  There I was able to meet a VP at the company and talk to him about why he still supports the President.  I was greeted by a large - well, fat- man behind a great big desk in a large, nicely decorated room, chomping on a big cigar (Cuban) at the Exxon-Mobil corporate office.  This man didn't want me to mention his name so I will just call him Mr. VP.  But Mr. VP did want me to tell you why he still thinks Bush is doing a fantastic job despite all of the problems in this country.

"Hell, Boy, did you see our record profits?" he smiled.  "Last year we earned
$1,300 a second and our quarterly profit just released was $11.7 billion and that beat the previous all time high record profit for any corporation of 11.6 billion posted for the last quarter of 2007."

Mr. VP smiles turned to laughter when he said, "Think about it, Boy, we have more money than God and the goddamn government gives us
tax breaks and subsidies.  I'll tell you something else that will make you laugh, did you notice the price for a barrel of oil has dropped over 20% over the last few weeks and we are still charging pretty much the same price at the pump.  Now tell me how do you think we can get by doing that without the support of the President?"

"You know," Mr. VP sits back and starts to get philosophical, "Our President is not only taking care of this country, he hasn't forgotten his friends.  Hell, Boy, when those goddamn Iraqis thought they were going to sell oil and leave us sitting in the back seat the President showed all those dirty sons of a bitch that you can't fuck with him."

Now Mr. VP was losing his smile, "And I will tell you another thing, Son, that bastard in Iran better start doing bidness with us if he knows what the hell is good for him because Bush won't screw with the little bastard.  Putin is another son of a bitch, he is bombing our
pipeline in Georgia and he knows that we won't stand for him messing with us.  That is why we got the Israelis over there right now."

"Well I gotta go now.  I got a meeting with the Senator about his re-election.  So, who did you say you were again?" Mr. VP asks.

"Well, I was just interested in finding out if there really were people that still supported the President.  They were kind of hard to find," I reported.

He was all smiles and then I noticed a glare in Mr. VP's eyes. "Now tell me, Boy, you wouldn't be one of those liberal do-gooders that say that we are making too much money?  Hell, that is the American way to make as much as you can, when you can, and to fuck with everyone else!  You can't blame a company for turning a profit or for making sure politicians are on their side," he said.

"But what about America and the world, Mr. VP?  Do you ever feel guilty?" I ask.

Mr. VP at this point is taking no more questions and yells, "Get out of my office, you little jerk.  Who the hell let your sorry ass in here anyway.  I'll make sure our security knows who you are and you won't get within miles of here again."

So I get up and leave quickly realizing that there are some people that still support the President.  But I am not so sure that over 20% of Americans still support the president.  One thing I am sure about and that is there are a very few people that have done very well during the Bush Presidency.  They have "more money than God" right now and they are all that count when it comes to politics and governing.

And, as Mr. VP would say, "Hell, Boy, that's the American way!"
