Republicans are REVOLTING! (and they don't care much for McCain either)

By JC Garrett

A roundup of the news and blogs shows that Republicans are still not very happy with their candidate. Example: "May he be defeated in ALL his political endeavors with an avalanche of shame descending upon him."

A roundup of the news and blogs, especially right-leaning publications, shows that Republicans are still not very happy with their candidate.

Commenters to the WaPo story titled Conservatives Ready to Battle McCain on Convention Platform (where you can get a peek at McCain wearing a super-cool pair of "Mac-Daddy" sunglasses that he seems to have picked up at the local Army-Navy store) say this:

aallen1 asked a question to which any answer would be disheartening to McCain backers: "Are you sure these conservative activists aren't Obama supporters in disguise, trying to make Republicans look ridiculous?"

Having no choice in the location of his birth, but still considering it his biggest achievement in life, 12thgenamerican wrote: "i will vote for barr because of this nonsense."

PutDownTheKoolaid offered a Columbus-inspired quip: "Yep, the flat earthers in the GOP would rather sacrifice the future of our planet than admit they are wrong about anthropogenic climate change."

Paddy1 said while drowning his sorrows at the pub: "Another WaPo attempt to document a schism in the Republican Party as wide as the multiple schisms in the Democratic Party. I and many other conservatives and moderates are voting for McCain not because he's the nominee of the Republican Party, but because Obama is the nominee of the Democratic Party. McCain is my least favorite Republican, but the alternative is scary..."

nodebris offered an uncluttered evaluation of the circumstances: "The problem the Republicans have this year is the only candidate they have a hope of getting elected this year is one that doesn't represent their views. Because their views are utterly rejected by the majority of Americans, and rightly so. So, they can either be Republicans, or they can get elected."

As you can see, there is a shortage of Republican commenters at the Post. I'm bettin' that's because most are too embarrassed to say much of anything at anyplace where they are outnumbered by people with brains that actually function. Which happens to be pretty much anywhere in the world except the most hate-filled right-wing blogs.

And on Political Machine, which reports in its own roundup of McCain woes entitled McCain's Convention Nightmare(including the fact that Ron Paul has scheduled his own "miniconvention" around the same time and nearly the same location as the "biggun"), we see:

And on the conservative Powerline News, we get into the really upset Republicans:

C. Rice shows his love: "I hope they fight him IN FACT as hard as it takes! And the devil be HANGED!!!McCain is an egotistical egomaniacal sociopathic powermongering micromangerial @#&*$#@&*@@*&@#$&*#@$&*$#&*@&* egg-sucking rattlesnake! He needs to be carried off PERMANENTLY to Mexico with his reconquista staff members and cohorts. May he be defeated in ALL his political endeavors with an avalanche of shame descending upon him."

A. Lincoln quotes scripture: "For the unwashed heathen - If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

And good ol' W. Churchill shows his stiff upper lip: "McCain has reached so far across the aisle, he’s fallen to the floor and can’t get back up."

And conservative blogger Pat Gray sums it all up pretty well:

"Those of us still voting are only doing so because Barack Obama is a Marxist, and we’ll take a moderate Democrat like McCain over a Marxist retreat-monger.

Virtually none of us are supporting McCain or the RNC with money and/or time.  He has our vote and that’s about it.  All due to the fact that Barack Obama scares the living crap out of us.  We would actually like a country left intact when we come home from work every day.  John McCain has been a downright embarrassing choice for conservatives and will remain so."
