A Young Black Man

By James Bush

Concerning infatuation versus pragmatism.

::::::::

An infatuation has taken hold of this land In a love affair with a young black man This affair has no solid reason or rhyme It has no basis in fact this time The people just want something new Something fresh to get them all through And this fresh young black man Sees himself as the new leader of the land A child of destiny, ambition, and time I fear he may become a partner in crime Deluded into believing that he "Can do what's never been done" Rashly thinking that he "Can win what's never been won" While the one who really knows the truth Sits by and watches the cracks in the roof And a happier destiny slip from the land As her people swoon for a young black man
