There may be a vote to discharge the resolution from committe THIS WEEK. 1. Call your own council member. Most of these calls will be short. You will leave a message: "My name is ---. My address is ---. I am calling to support Resolution 131 which is about voting machines and urges adoption of Paper Ballots and Optical Scanners. I urge you take action now to bring it out of committee and get it passed in the full council. Please talk with Speaker Quinn and urge her to bring Res. 131 out of committee and to a unanimous passing vote immediately." Watch the City Council vote! There will be two votes for Res. 131, in two separate meetings of the full council. These will not be secret votes - and we want to fill the balcony so every Council Member knows the public is watching! The first vote will be on "discharge" to force the Resolution out of committee. We believe this will occur on Wed. Nov 29, 2006, at 1:30 PM at City Hall. The second vote will be on Resolution 131 itself, and will take place at the next full council meeting one or two weeks later.
