A Trip to Fantasy Island

By Steve Osborn

After watching "Man of the Year" it just seems that anything might be possible! Speaker Conyers?

::::::::

IN the aftermath of yesterday's election victories, my mind took a pleasant trip. Reading the various articles about the results, I was struck by one possibility that had not occurred to me. Just because Pelosi is the Minority Leader, it is not automatic that she becomes Speaker. She must be elected by the House. One of the most important reasons for a Democratic victory is the need for impeachment and a thorough housecleaning. Most voters who were exit polled said their votes were predicated on the need for change in our foreign policy and distrust of the Bush Gang, its motives and means. Pelosi has already stated that impeachment is not on her agenda. John Conyers, however, has already made an excellent case for impeachment of the whole gang for many high crimes and misdemeanors. He would make an excellent Speaker. We've got until January. Let's work to make it so. Now that Rumsfeld has "resigned" it brings me to the final leg of my trip to Fantasy Island. Just before I woke up, I heard the voice calling "De plane, de plane!" It was the final act of "extraordinary rendition" before the dismantling of the whole apparatus, and on a Monday morning, Rumsfeld and all the rest of the Bush Gang is found, handcuffed to the door of the Hague to await their fate. Oh, to wake up and find it true!
