Why do Democrats need an immigration crisis?
By Pavlo Kuliuk
The immigration crisis is a cruel government business. New Yorkers and immigrants are victims of this business project. The conflict is not in the interests of both groups of the population. However, all people have an interest in stopping uncivilized immigration. What we can do? This is discussed in this article.

The immigration crisis is a cruel government business. New Yorkers and immigrants are victims of this business project. The conflict is not in the interests of both groups of the population. However, all people have an interest in stopping uncivilized immigration. What we can do? This is discussed in this article.
Crime is on the rise in New York
New York is no longer safe. In 2024, only 37% of city residents rate public safety in their area as excellent or good. In 2017 this figure was 50%. According to citizens, the metro is now a little safer during the day than at night seven years ago.(1)
The opinion of townspeople confirms the increase in crime. In 2023, the total number of "Seven Major Felony Offenses"* reached 126,786. This is the highest figure since 2006! One of these crimes, "Felony Assault", was committed 27,876 times. This is a record value since 2000!(2) The total number of "Non-Seven Major Felony Offenses"** was 61,212 in 2023. This is the highest value since 2009. One of these crimes, "Felony Possession of Stolen Property", was committed 1516 times. This is the highest value since 2003.(3) The study notes a rapid increase in the "number of individuals being advertised online for purposes of prostitution in New York." This figure has almost tripled from 68,891 in 2021 to 243,721 in 2022.(4)
However, do not rush to blame immigrants
As we see, criminal activity is growing. The only visible reason for the increase in crime is immigration. But what kind of immigration is this? This cannot be called "illegal" immigration. Everything happens with the permission of the authorities and, unfortunately, at the expense of taxpayers. New York is being ruined by "uncivilized" immigration. The city is filled with immigrants who, due to government policies, cannot live normally.
This causes concern to city residents, including due to the increase in crime. Immigrants and New Yorkers have become victims of a dubious political decision that is properly described as an "inhumane" business project!
Taking advantage of the current laws of NYC and hoping for financial support from the authorities, about 180 thousand asylum seekers arrived in New York over 2 years.(5) This is a catastrophic number of people who are unlikely to be able to obtain documents to live a normal life. The current asylum system is unable to process this number of immigrants. From 2001 to February 2024, New York City granted asylum to 102,508 people. Another 36,274 people were refused.(6) That is, at the current speed of processing documents, it will take almost 30 years to consider the cases of people who arrived in New York in 2 years!
It is also impossible to send these people home, since deportation occurs a little faster than the provision of asylum. From 2003 to January 2016, 84,908 immigrants were deported from New York.(7) That is, it will take more than 25 years to deport immigrants who arrived in the city in 2 years. But even this is unlikely. Because nationwide, the number of new cases in immigration courts is growing three times faster than existing cases are being processed. That is, for every 1 case reviewed, there are 3 new ones. The courts are failing to handle immigration cases. Queens County, NY, ranked third in the country in the number of immigrant cases heard by the courts. There are 96,719 cases here. This is almost 10% of the total number of immigration cases considered by US courts!(8)
As we see, 180,000 asylum seekers are trapped! They cannot get documents and cannot go back. The life of these people cannot be normal! It is unlikely that New York City officials would have told them this information!
But 180,000 hapless asylum seekers are not the whole problem. Even before their arrival, there were 476,000 undocumented immigrants in the city.(9) That means the total number of undocumented people in New York is about 656,000! But the city's population is about 8.3 million people.(10) That is, almost 8% of New Yorkers are undocumented. This means that these people cannot live normally. In such a situation, the city cannot be safe! But the most incredible thing is that the authorities created this situation using laws and taxpayers' money.
Why are the authorities accepting new immigrants if almost half a million people who previously arrived did not receive documents? It's simple. People are money! Every immigrant is a source of income. Even if the immigrant does not have documents. Therefore, the authorities are accepting new asylum seekers, although they cannot provide documents for hundreds of thousands of people who arrived earlier.
This is a business on people who suffer and cannot live as US citizens! According to official information from the authorities, undocumented immigrants in New York State paid $3 billion in taxes in 2021.(9) Over the next 30 years, the 180,000 arriving asylum seekers must pay approximately $65 billion in taxes to city, state, and US governments. This amount is minus benefits!(9) This is the price of the inconvenience of citizens and the suffering of asylum seekers! We are all victims of the Democrats' terrible economic policies. But they know what they're doing.
Republicans are trapped
28% of Americans say immigration is their top problem. This is more than the share of the population that considers the economy and inflation the most important topic.(13) The United States has a very large share of immigrants in the total population. In such conditions, it is very difficult, if possible, to fight immigration.
It seems that the Democrats have deliberately made immigration the main issue of the upcoming elections. Because Republicans don't know how to deal with immigration. It is quite clear that immigrants who have already arrived in the United States cannot be deported. It's simply not possible. It is quite clear that by fighting immigration, Republicans are turning against themselves the majority of the population that is immigrants or associated with them. Republicans will be especially actively opposed by Hispanic US citizens. The appointment of their representative as Biden's campaign chief is not accidental. To hide their failures in the economy and foreign policy, the Democrats pitted Republicans against immigrants led by Hispanic US citizens. The most dangerous topics for Biden--the economy, foreign politics and inflation--are hidden in a dark closet.
Democrats are confidently in control of the situation. But the actions of the Republicans are ineffective. And that's why. Democrats, especially their progressive part, must constantly take some initiatives to remain progressive. It is initiative that allows Democrats to control the situation all the time. This happens because the Democrats always start first. While the Republicans are only reacting to the actions of the Democrats. Republicans always start second.
But everything can change if the Republicans themselves begin to take initiatives. There is no need to fight the actions of political opponents. It is necessary to take initiatives that improve the lives of everyone. Including political opponents. In other words, to win the fight against immigration, Republicans need to love immigrants more than Democrats do! That is, it is necessary to take the opposite actions from those that the Republicans are doing now.
In the case of immigrants, the Democrats have painted themselves into a trap. Announcing New York as a sanctuary city, Democrats cannot provide quality stays for asylum seekers. This should be visible to everyone! Republicans could make several legislative moves to improve the quality of life for New York's 650,000 undocumented immigrants. Mandatory provision of separate housing, increased benefits, free education and medical care, provision of jobs and training in any profession.
Don't worry. These wonderful initiatives cannot be paid for from the city budget! There's no money there. Therefore, Democrats will never vote for these initiatives while they control the city council and city administration. But! No decision needed! The main thing is to show the inability and unwillingness of Democrats to improve the lives of immigrants. The Democrats' reputation among immigrants will be damaged. And the reputation of Republicans among immigrants will improve. Republicans will be supported many townspeople who were themselves recent immigrants.
Further more! A bill could be developed that would allow asylum seekers to sue the city administration for poor living conditions and slow provision of documents. Immigrants should be able to demand monetary compensation if they are not satisfied with their living conditions in New York before receiving their documents. It is necessary to introduce deadlines for providing documents to asylum seekers. If these deadlines are violated, then the city authorities must pay compensation for asylum seekers. Immigrants will love this right! But Democrats will not vote for this law! Democrats are not suicidal. That is, the Republicans will again be good and the Democrats bad.
This tactic does not pose any risks for citizens. All these initiatives will not be accepted by the city council, which means they will not be paid for from the budget. But such a game with bills will show the society the true face of the Democrats and their real attitude towards immigrants. Immigrants from arms Democrats will become opponents of this political party. Together with immigrants, most of the townspeople who sympathize with immigrants will oppose the Democrats. Thus, there will be a real chance to win the elections to the city council, Senate and Congress.
When real power is obtained, a law can be passed guaranteeing the rights of immigrants but limiting the number of these immigrants per year! Yes. There will be no rapid immigration. But it will be civilized immigration.
Let's be honest. This scenario is not realistic. Republicans will continue to make noise but will not benefit from the Democrats' gamble with immigrants. Analyzing the situation, I can conclude that the Democrats' chances in the presidential election look preferable to those of the Republicans. The Democrats imposed their initiative on the Republicans. By allowing mass immigration, Democrats are solving two problems at once. Political and economic. Will this give them the opportunity to win the elections? Whether this forecast is correct will become known in November.
What we can do?
Let's be honest. If asylum seekers entered the city illegally then it would be correct to blame them for all the troubles. But these people come to New York because of the laws. It is not the immigrants' fault that the city is in chaos because of their arrival. The authorities are to blame. The residents of the city are to blame for allowing this government to control the city! Yes! It is our fault that there is chaos in the city. This is unpleasant to read. It's nicer to think that immigrants are to blame for everything! But such is human psychology. It is always someone else who is to blame and not himself.
In the current situation, opponents of the authorities cannot deport asylum seekers and cannot prevent the authorities from accepting new asylum seekers. But this is not the biggest problem. Worst of all, the fight against immigration only strengthens the power of Democrats who act as defenders of immigrants. This appeals not only to immigrants, but also to many sentimental New Yorkers. There are especially many such townspeople among former immigrants. Thus, the Democrats turn from cynical exploiters of immigrants and city dwellers into their heroes! Having made a dubious political decision, the Democrats are avoiding responsibility, diverting public attention with the struggle of dissatisfied citizens with immigrants and their supporters. The Democrats confidently control the situation that they themselves created.
But everything can change if you stop playing by the Democrats' rules. Instead of fighting immigration, we should prevent immigration. We need to save immigrants from making rash decisions. And to do this, we must tell the truth about the life of undocumented immigrants in New York. This needs to be done in Latin American countries where most asylum seekers come from. The population of Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and other countries must be constantly informed about the life of undocumented immigrants in New York. The truth about this topic will be the best way to prevent mass immigration to New York.
Marvelous. But this work is not being done. Although there are no obstacles to this. Any city resident can use the Internet and tell the truth about the situation in the city on social networks of foreign countries. Journalists can write articles and send it to newspapers in Latin American countries. There are many good things that can be done for immigrants. The main thing is to change your approach! Let's try to reduce immigration to New York now! This is a sample of information that can be sent. in social networks of Latin American countries.
"Dear friend, New York is facing a serious immigration crisis. If you are considering immigrating to this city, think carefully about your decision. The difficulties awaiting you in the city may be unexpected and too much for you! The latest study from the Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS) says. Thirty-seven percent of immigrant respondents said they needed to access healthcare in the last 12 months but did not receive it. Nearly a quarter of immigrants reported being food insecure (defined as going without eating at least once in the past month due to lack of resources) primarily due to a lack of funds to buy food, particularly healthy food. (11) According to the City of New York, 22.9% of non-citizens lived below the poverty line in 2019. (12) Over the past 2 years arrived in New York about 180,000 asylum seekers. Every day this number increases by about 600 people. New York City does not have enough money in its budget to help all these people. The situation is getting worse."
The following languages are common in the Caribbean countries and Latin America: Spanish, French, Dutch, Haitian Creole, Papiamento, Antillean Creole, Guaran, Caribbean Hindustani, Aymara.(14) It would be great if townspeople who know these languages make a translation. Many potential immigrants do not speak English. Therefore, you need to communicate with them in their native language. Searching for communities on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks is also best done not only in English but also in these languages.
There are other possible ways to combat uncivilized immigration organized by Democrats in New York. These methods are a topic of discussion for all interested of people. If you want to stop business from human destinies, take action. If not you, then who?
