My Dog Found Where I Worked in 1972, Part 2

By Fred Gransville

I have been writing about Hunter, the Border Collie I got six weeks ago from Border Collies in Need. Hunter finds things, according to me, telepathically. The night I brought him home and parked 3 houses away, he found my house.

I have been writing about Hunter, the Border Collie I got six weeks ago from Border Collies in Need. Hunter finds things, according to me, telepathically. The night I brought him home and parked 3 houses away, he found my house. A week later I took him to hidden hills where my cousin lives and parked over a mile away from the house. Note that I have never walked to my cousin's house. A map of the path he took to the house is in the first few frames of the movie. The movie is 9 minutes so you can click here towatch the first 1.5 minutes and then skip to the 7 minute mark to watch the finale.

Hunter finds where I worked in 1972, Part 2 (Click hereif you want to read Part 1)

I went to the Building Department to confirm that he found the location where I worked in 1972. The building department is part of an LA City government complex in Van Nuys CA that includes:

Los Angeles Superior Court Van Nuys West
Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk
Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, 6262 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys CA

Over the years I have been to the Courthouse and the Registrar-Recorder's office numerous times. Hunter went with me to record documents two weeks ago.

When I got close to the complex, as he has done in the past, he goes nuts looking around trying to get out of the car. I finally got a video of when a location triggers this behavior. You can watch it here, it's under one minute.

I had no recollection of ever being to Building and Safety when I was forced to park the car a fair distance away from the address, 6262 Van Nuys Blvd. Look at the map and you can see where I parked on Delano (orange icon of the dog, arrows in black, final arrow in orange) and how close the three locations are to each other.

He goes east to Tyrone Ave, North to Sylvan St, past the Register-Recorder where he went with two weeks ago, turns left and goes down Sylvan Ave towards the Court house, and then ... you guessed it crosses over to the Building Department.

You can click here to watch the eight minute videoor read the summary of what happened below.

I park on Delano street, put on his leash and when he jumps out of the car, I say

"Ok where do you want to go.
As usual he gets out of the car and wants to go somewhere.
He has been to the County Recorders office, I don't know, let's see what he does.
We didn't come this way when we went to the recorders office.
I don't know where he is going.
1:40 He can't go to the building department because I don't know where it is,
lets see where he goes.
1:50 Maybe I don't know
2:54 There is no way he is going to 6262 that is impossible
3:11 I thought he was going here he is not (Recorders office)
3:58 Maybe years ago I was at the building department
Where do you want to go
4:14 Do you think I am going to the courthouse?
I don't know I have been the court house many times.
5:18 Notice he zig zags and then I have to tell him we do not chase squirrels
5:37 It would be nice if he went to the courthouse
5:54 This is where I go (the court I go to investigate)
6:00 almost, almost (he got near the door to the courthouse)
You missed the door, where do you think the door is?
6:24 Nope, nope you can't go that way (He wants to jump up on a planter looking he is trying to go into the courthouse through a window)
6:27 He is walking in the direction of another building in the complex so I ask a stranger Is that the building department over there?
6:33 He is going towards the building department
6:41 Hunter you are going to kill me, (he sees a barking dog) no we are not going over there
7:01 He finally comes back from the barking dog and continues
7:16 the barking dog is still a distraction, but he continues on the same path
7:20 He took me to the building department, any way you look at it he took me to the building department
7:36 Let's see if he goes up the steps (He goes up the steps and then inside the building)

The actual office is on the second floor. Once inside I was pretty sure that I have been there in the past."

Conclusion

When I went to the Building Department, I was thinking about the location but did not know where it was and believed that I had never been there. Hunter had the option of the two other locations, one which he went with me, just two weeks ago. Note that when he got out of the car I said to him, "Ok where do you want to go? "

Epilogue

Yes, he found another location using telepathy but what is really interesting, according to me, is that in both cases he had access to multiple locations that he could have gone to in my past.

When I parked at the StarbucksI was definitely not thinking about where I worked in 1972 or the times I was at The Movie Theater, The Spot, More than Waffles or my Wells Fargo Bank at the Laemmle Shopping center.

He could have gone to any of the locations, why did he go to Informata?

Answer: During the 10 or so years that I worked as an employee for a number of other companies I wasn't very happy; however, I have only positive memories working for Don Henley.

I did another experiment with places I lived or visited in my past.

The map below shows the house that I built in 1975 at the corner of Fairview Place and Colodny Dr.

I lived there about a year and then sold it to Billy Griffin from the Miracles. I also lived in one of the condos at 5275 Colodny Drive and attended the Church nearby.

We parked at Chesebro and Driver, the bottom corner of the green on the map below. The video is long so I would not recommend watching it unless you are really bored. I expected him to go to the condo or maybe the Church but not the house. I didn't think I could even walk that far in the heat. He didn't even hesitate, jumped out of the car and headed out of the parking lot and North on Cheseboro Canyon road, left on Fairview Pl to the house at 6100.

Why 6100: Answer: If you asked me to rank the three locations on a scale of 1:10, Fairview gets first prize.
