Climate mitigating energy production.

By Jim Baird

The jobs, taxes and international prestige that flow from solving the climate problem are going begging

::::::::

With respect to climate change and energy production, politicians and policymakers simply have to do the basic math.

The climate targets even progressive leaders have set for themselves and the rest of us are an illusion. Their fixation is on taxes, jobs, and energy; with the environment only showing up at the margins. The Intended Nationally Determined Contributions commitments agreed to by the nations of the world in 2015, at the Paris climate talks allow global warming temperatures to reach 2.8 degrees Celsius whereas the aspirational goal was 1.5 degrees.

Politicians know what would work: a carbon tax set at a level high enough to actually influence consumer behavior, coupled with federal funding to reduce fossil fuel use. But that's not what they are proposing, let alone doing.

The climate debate has become a sterile exercise in futility while the jobs, the taxes and clean energy that would be available for resolving the climate change go begging.

Surface heating is the primary consequence of global warming.

We entrust heat pipes with the thermal integrity of our computers and expensive electronic equipment.

Why would we do less for the planet?

Artificial intelligence is seen as a killer of jobs but a little old fashioned anthropogenic intelligence can instead turn the global warming problem into a planetary panacea.

When policy makers do the right thing with respect to climate change, the jobs, taxes and global deliverance take care of themselves.

The time to start bringing global warming to a halt is yesterday.
