A Non-Review: Coulter's "In Trump We Trust - E Pluribus Awesome" Must Be E Pluribus Aweful
By Rev. Dan Vojir
Ann Coulter's new book on why we should vote for Donald Trump doesn't need to be read - one talk show episode should be enough.
::::::::
she defecates in it
... then tells people to eat from it and die. Her promotion of an anti-immigrant, McCarthy-like figure is almost treasonous* and her flaunting of skewed statistics and lack of knowledge (e.g. of anything working class) is the biggest F*CK YOU! to America anyone can imagine.
The Blurb Analysis
"Donald Trump isn't a politician -- he's a one-man wrecking ball against our dysfunctional and corrupt establishment. We're about to see the deluxe version of the left's favorite theme: Vote for us or we'll call you stupid. It's the working class against the smirking class."
How clever. How untrue: Trump is a wrecking ball against America's dignity, and for all intents and purposes, he embodies the "establishment". The man who at one time was considered the inspiration of Gordon Gecko has been the enemy of the working class for years.
The three biggest news stories of the 2016 presidential election have been: Trump, Trump, and Trump. The media have twisted themselves in knots, trying to grasp how he won over millions of Republicans and what he'd be like as president.
But Ann Coulter isn't puzzled. She knows why Trump was the only one of seventeen GOP contenders who captured the spirit of our time. She gets the power of addressing the pain of the silent majority and saying things the "PC Thought Police" considers unspeakable.
Silent? Majority? Trump's rallies belie both.
She argues that a bull in the china shop is exactly what we need to make America great again.
In this powerful book, Coulter explains why conservatives, moderates, and even disgruntled Democrats should set aside their doubts and embrace Trump:
He's putting America first in our trade deals and alliances, rather than pandering to our allies and enemies.
Unfortunately, he'd need to know where our "allies and enemies" are located first, since he has only a Palinesque grasp of geography. And get this straight: Trump puts Trump first, not America.
He's abandoned the GOP's decades-long commitment to a bellicose foreign policy, at a time when the entire country is sick of unnecessary wars.
Better "bellicose" than bloviating, calling every country "loser". The biggest fear of a Trump presidency is giving a man like him the nuclear codes.
He's ended GOP pandering to Hispanic activists with his hard-line policy on immigration.
Obviously written before his "pivot"
Working class Americans finally have a champion against open borders and cheap foreign labor.
The "Champion's" tax returns might reveal something quite different.
He's overturned the media's traditional role in setting the agenda and defining who gets to be considered "presidential."
No matter how you define it, "presidential" is not in Trump's lexicon.
He's exposed political consultants as grifters and hacks, most of whom don't know real voters from a hole in the ground.
His spokespeople have been so lacking in intellect that they ARE the hole in the ground.
If you're already a Trump fan, Ann Coulter will help you defend and promote your position. If you're not, she might just change your mind.
I surmise that Ann Coulter's method of writing books is a quick one: taking a cue from Mad Libs, she forms a "hate- liberals-worship-me" kind of template, invites her friends over to contribute, then after ten or twelve vodka martinis - VIOLA! another Ann Coulter masterpiece!!
However, the problem with this publication is that Sentinel (the preferred publisher of right-wingers such as Mike Huckabee) may not have been able to print the book quickly enough, i.e. before "The Pivot", making Coulter's usual onslaught on talks shows very difficult.
Anyway, with an author like Coulter, you can save time and money by seeing one appearance on FOX.
If you must.
*One reason William F. Buckley liked being on my program Strictly Books is that I didn't toe the line of his book's publicist: he respected that and so did other authors.
** Unabashedly McCarthyist, Coulter once was pictured draped over McCarthy's tombstone with a smile so self-satisfied that the only thing missing was a cigarette.
