By Stevart Johnson

Addiction can be caused by various factors like an eating disorder, poor self-esteem or distorted body stature, etc. Possessive exercise habits are mainly present in people who have complex diseases like anorexia nervosa and bulimia.

Here, I am sharing my take on this issue.

What Exercise Addiction Really is?

Addictions are figured out by some indications. It can be extended to exercise the following:

  • Withdrawal symptoms in your body, such as having an urge, when you cannot captivate yourself in the activity.
  • Craving, meaning you need to increase the level of substance or behavior over time.
  • Arising conflicts in your daily life routine, such as skipping to go to work or other responsibilities, caused by the compulsion to get hooked in the addictive behavior.

Fitness professionals recommend exercise as an essential element of your daily lives, which is surely not the core part. If you're addicted to exercise, you'll experience some physical, financial and social problems and multiple behaviors.

Is Exercise a Positive Addiction?

Some researchers have counted it as a "positive addiction" because of its contribution to overall fitness. It's far away better and productive than addictions like alcohol, drug use and gambling. Exercise addicts, for instance, never indulge in such type of health-damaging activities.

Most of the times, people feel perfect and relaxed when they are finished with their daily workout. Exercise has been proven to reduce cortisol level, which is the main cause for stress response in our body. On the other side, it increases level of endorphin and other neurotransmitters that make people feel more relaxed. Exercise plays a vital role in the prevention of various diseases and other health issues. It also eliminates signs of stress disorders, depression and anxiety. Most of the people use inversion table as a remedy to curb their back pain.

Obsession of Exercise Can be a Major Cause in Emotional and Physical Harm

Contrary to the benefits listed above, with an urge of addiction, fanatic behave towards exercise is the main cause of an addict to withdraw from relationships and responsibilities. Also, although exercise contributes many positive effects, an addiction to exercise can be disastrous to overall personality.

Physical Dangers of Exercise Addiction

The risk of dehydration for your body.

An increased ratio to be a victim of insomnia.

Various muscle and tissue injuries such as shin splints, broken bones, backbone pain and tissue damage.

How Does a Person Get Addicted to Exercise?

Addiction can be caused by various factors like an eating disorder, poor self-esteem or distorted body stature, etc. Possessive exercise habits are mainly present in people who have complex diseases like anorexia nervosa and bulimia.

Ironically, exercise can also provide remedial benefits in the treatment, like addiction, depression or psychological disease called anorexia nervosa -- depends upon the amount of workout killing such type of addiction.

I will conclude, if your exercise routine makes you fanatic and creates more frustrations in your life rather providing you with a perfect body and a peace of mind, you must consult your doctor or analyze your workout habits to point out the main cause of your addictive behave.
