Students and Voting Integrity

By David Davis

Wouldn't it be nice to have a program in High school on voting practices within a state? Kids these days are already familiar with the internet and data processing, why not introduce them into the voting aspect? After all, they will be our next leaders.

I am reading a lot lately about computer "memory Cards." That's good.
More people will begin to ask questions about what they actually are.
I have a good idea, but would like to know more... I know that we
won't be able to educate the general public about such terms before a
general election, because they simply don't care, - just give me my
ballot and let me at them!

I saw an interesting statement in an article about "Recommendations of
panel that reviewed Cuyahoga elections" - In Ohio. One of the
recommendations said, "Improve training of poll workers by having the
state's colleges and universities create a poll worker training
program with a core curriculum approved by the Secretary of State;
until then, the board should improve the quality of its training."

Wouldn't it be nice to have a program in High school on voting
practices within a state? Kids these days are already familiar with
the internet and data processing, why not introduce them into the
voting aspect? After all, they will be our next leaders. Hey, - why
not replace the religion/evolution controversy with something more
practical, - like voting integrity in their democracy.

Sounds good to me...
