Planning to think about trying to work? Not so fast!

By Philip Kraske

The 300K jobs created last month ain't all it's cracked up to be.

I've been planning to think about trying to work,

And get my old man to stop chaining my jerk,

(Or something like that) and be a man complete,

With bills and Visa and a big fridge replete,

And to poor Uncle Sam contribute some cash,

Since he's got more debt than The Donald has brash,

.

"No prob'," Dad told me, "up wings the economy:

"In two weeks a job, in three your autonomy.

"The U.S. market grew 300 K jobs.

"There's no room for excuses, much less for slobs.

"Just jump in the game and climb the corp. ladder,

"You'll soon be VP and make proud your Dadder."

.

.

So there I was mulling a stab at a job,

But saw this op-ed by the great Doctor Rob ,

Who picks apart clean the last labor report:

Finding a good job, that requires F-fort.

Which to yours truly is the hated F word,

Boring and sweaty, better left to the herd.

.

First let's be clear, a job's got to be right,

With vacation, a staff, not too late at night.

I'm not gonna bend over, not gonna clean,

Your boy's a brain guy, a one-man dream team

That any company'd be grateful to get,

But it's gotta pay tops and not make me fret.

.

.

.

I'm prime-beef labor, but what pie-slice is that?

5 per of new jobs, not exactly the fat.

Half of new jobs go to chief-cook-and-bottle,

Folks with two kids honing pensions and wattle.

For a guy like me with a big future at play,

What a shame it'd be to kiss all that away!

.

Kiss it away in flipping burgers at Joe's,

In taming mad clients or painting chicks' toes.

Some day soon, Dad, I'll get the great call:

"Come save our company and we'll pay you all!"

Till then I remain like 94 million,

Awaiting my chance, becalmed and reptilian.
