I have an uncle who passed away few years ago. He liked to joke and enjoy life to the last day of his life. Whenever he doesn't look ok and someone asks him what is wrong uncle, he has the same answer: I am fine. It is just Tuesday & Wednesday. The person asking is confused by this answer, and I suppose you are, too. I suggest you stop reading now and try to make sense of his response and what are the possible explanation for it, before you realize his logic below.

He loved women and easy life, and yet a he was a successful businessman who traveled almost all his life. He once said jokingly: my only concern is that if one day my ability to perform sex is lower than my desire for it.

Now back to his logic of Tuesday & Wednesday (T&W). He says T&W is a name of a disease that doctors all over the world could not treat and the people prone to it are those who are 70 years old or older.

In case you are still wondering what is this disease, it is Aging.   What he meant is the passage of time. T&W followed by another T&W and so on. In other words he was saying I am getting old and this is a problem no one can solve. This came to mind when I read recently that Margret Thatcher and Bush Senior have been hospitalized for reasons stated but T&W was not mentioned as one of them. I sometimes wonder when a 95-year-old person is hospitalized and concerns are raised about certain organs of his body are not functioning well.

I remembered my uncle when read these news. He had also his own philosophy when it comes to doing business.   Once when we were flying to the Far East to visit some factories, he gave me an advice if I wanted to do my own business that I cannot forget. He said: look son the seller is just a prostitute in the hands of the buyer. He went on elaborating that you must entertain the buyer and do whatever it takes to conclude the deal. He stopped short of saying even if he wants to (.....).

Towards the end of his life he lost his eyesight but never his love for life and travel. Once he was travelling with two of his friends and during the night a burglar broke into their house. All three started chasing the burglar in the house. To the surprise of the other two men, my uncle, who was semi-blind, was shouting: I got him guys come here.

He was also aggressive and hated too much formalities. Once he was visited by a friend and another stranger who is a friend of the friend. The stranger treated himself as a guest and sat in the living room waiting to be served. My uncle approached him, held his tie and said: nice tie, and then said:   follow me, man. He took him to the kitchen and showed him how to make coffee, came back to the living room and left the guest making the coffee.

In the last months of his life he was seriously sick and knew he his days are numbered, but never lost his love for jokes and fun. He was visited by a nephew whom his father passed away few years ago. He said to the nephew: son, if you have any message for your father give to me I am going there soon. God bless your soul uncle.
