The Cosmic Story: Scorpio Solar Eclipse 2012

Next Tuesday's Scorpio New Moon is a solar eclipse, marking an ending and a new beginning for us all. The Cosmic Story: Scorpio Solar Eclipse 2012
Next Tuesday's Scorpio New Moon is a solar eclipse, marking an ending and a new beginning for us all. As you may have noticed, cosmic law dictates that we renew ourselves at different times, for change is the only constant in our marvelous Universe. We renew ourselves each month at the new Moon and we also renew ourselves yearly at the 15*Scorpio power gate around Samhain or All Hallows' Eve. This is the time to let go of those things, projects, hopes and even people that no longer serve our life's purpose. We have to learn to die, to clear a space within us, so new life can come to us again next Spring.
Scorpio's power lies in the depth and strength of our feeling life. Scorpios are known for their intense feelings. This makes sense since Scorpio is a fixed water sign, meaning that there is a concentration of feeling energy that can become very stuck, thereby intensifying them. These stuck feelings turn into the dark, mucky water of stagnant repressed feelings. These dark feelings are often taboo in our society -- rage, cruelty, twisted eroticism, revenge as well as our feelings of loss, betrayal, abandonment and sorrow. That's the Scorpio struggle -- what do I do with these dark, un-digested feelings?
This Scorpio solar eclipse can help us transform these energies; during a solar eclipse, the Sun's energy flow is blocked, disrupting Earth's energy field, breaking up old patterns within the Collective Unconscious. Then it becomes our responsibility to incorporate this new energy pattern. Each astrological sign holds the pattern of a different destiny, and so solar eclipses mark a time for a collective initiation to transform that particular pattern. A solar eclipse in Scorpio can help us transform all our pent-up anger and despair over the state of the world into the determination to create positive change in our societies.
All of us have some Scorpio issues to deal with, made evident in the house Scorpio occupies in your natal chart. Scorpio's initiation asks us to let go of those feelings that keep inflicting pain on ourselves and on others; those emotional wounds that keep us from intimacy with another; and those often unconscious beliefs that keep us chained to the past.
Scorpio New Moon Solar Eclipse
This total eclipse of the Sun will only be visible in northern Australia and the South Pacific Ocean. The Scorpio New Moon occurs on November 13, 2012 at 2:08pm PST/ 5:08pm EST/ 10:08pm GMT.
The Sabian symbol for the Sun and Moon at 22* Scorpio is: Hunters shooting wild ducks. This image speaks to humanity's inherent aggressive instincts. We are still hunters. But instead of turning our aggression on others, these instincts are used to feed the group.
The North Node in Scorpio is very close to this new Moon. The Nodes are points in space that show us when the Sun, Moon and Earth align so we have eclipses. The Nodes symbolize our changing collective initiation. The cosmic story says that we have to face the task of releasing what the Taurus South Node holds onto so that the necessary transformation of the Scorpio North Node can occur. The US election was a great example of this dynamic.
When the South Node is in Taurus, we have to learn to give up our attachment to comfort and the status quo. We have to change our ideas about possessions and ownership. We have to stop being so stubborn about opening up to others and creating change. Then we can discover the new talents of the Scorpio North Node: self-discipline (especially with Saturn now in Scorpio), being open to conscious change, desiring the release of stagnant energy, accepting others' beliefs, accepting help from others, and most important, being open to partnering, supporting and merging power with others. The great gift of this nodal lesson is that if we're willing to risk our current state of comfort, we will gain more vitality and greater personal power to accomplish our goals. If we learn these lessons in the next year as the nodes pass through Taurus and Scorpio, we will be ready to create a new society.
The Pluto in Capricorn/Uranus in Aries square still frames our collective discussion. Change is inevitable and it comes from taking personal responsibility. Jupiter is still retrograde in Gemini, opening our minds to new ideas which support Venus in Libra's call for genuine fairness and balance and beauty in all our relationships.
There is still the wonderful water trine (a blessing) between Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, Saturn in Scorpio and Ceres in Cancer. Both Neptune (Nov. 10) and Chiron (Nov. 14) are ending their 5-month retrograde period, intensifying our desire to heal our collective wounds and dream a new dream for humanity. They are aided in this by Saturn's determination to dig into our psyches and face what's there. The Great Mother Ceres holds us in her arms and whispers her love for us, for we are the children of Mother Earth. When we know we are loved, we accept who we are. Love yourselves as you release your old emotional wounds.
Mercury is retrograde and will move back into Scorpio hours after this eclipse. Mercury will take Sagittarius' light and shine it into the dark places we need to heal. Scorpio's ruler, Mars, is moving over the Galactic Center in Sagittarius, blessing us with the desire to transform these feelings and fly free.
On this intense Scorpio solar eclipse, take the hero's path.
Come with me to the Underworld. Travel down into the depths of death. As you descend, you find your way barred by a solid wooden door. Saturn guards this door and asks if you are willing to face what lies beyond it. Uranus and Pluto tell you that you are at a crossroads. Will you choose fear or will you choose courage? Behind that door lie the feelings you don't want to look at, that you don't want to admit to, that you don't want to face. Behind that door lie shame, loss, betrayal, sado-masochistic urges towards cruelty and the delight in giving and receiving pain. Behind that door lies the terror of death in the form of monsters and demons. Behind that door lies your selfishness, your indifference, your loneliness, your sense of abandonment. Behind that door lies your ego's death. Are you ready to face yourself? The Sun and Moon in Scorpio say you are.
So open the door and embrace your humanity. Let yourself feel all those feelings you've been afraid to acknowledge. Use Mercury retrograde to name the feelings. Use Jupiter and Venus to accept and love them. Use Neptune and Chiron's healing energies to open you to the Collective Unconscious and show you Spirit's gracious love which forgives you. Let the Mother Goddess Ceres hold you secure in her embrace. From this cosmic standpoint, listen to those feelings and understand what they say about you. Give them meaning. And when you are done acknowledging them, LET THEM GO! Pull the plug and drain out that dark pool. And let new feelings flow through you. Don't try to understand them yet. Just be refreshed by them.
May your journey be fruitful!
