Mormonism vs. Nazism and the Helmuth Hubener Legacy
By Douglas A. Wallace
When Mormon founder Joseph Smith JR established his church of Christs, later renamed The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints he created a statement of belief named the 13 Articles of faith. Article 12 states, "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." Hubener a young 17 year old German Mormon violated that article and was beheaded for it.

Born January 8, 1925, just 4 years older than this writer, Helmuth Hubener was a third generation Mormon teenager who recognized the terrible wrong in Hitler's Germany and worked against it to the best of his ability by writing and distributing pamphlets and other acts [listening to forbidden BBC broadcasts from the UK] to expose what he considered to be inhuman and wrong. A sample of his pamphlets:
"German boys! Do you know the country without freedom, the country of terror and tyranny? Yes, you know it well, but are afraid to talk about it. They have intimidated you to such an extent that you don't dare talk for fear of reprisals. Yes you are right; it is Germany -- Hitler Germany! Through their unscrupulous terror tactics against young and old, men and women, they have succeeded in making you spineless puppets to do their bidding."

Mormon President, Heber J. Grant had visited church members in Germany's Third Reich in 1937 when Helmuth was just 12 years old. Grant made no negative comments about the Third Reich during his visit but told the members to hold fast. His visit was a year before Kristallnacht when coordinated public and government persecution against Jews became wide spread in Germany. The visit was also 4-1/2 years following the February, 1933 burning of the Reichstag which from history we suspect was Hitler's use of a false flag operation by which he stripped democracy by the Enabling Act legislated the very day after the fire obviously prepared and waiting for the burning of the Reichstag. Sixty eight years later a similar event happened in America**Germany, become a dictatorship after the Reichstag incident by the Enabling Act when Helmuth was eight years old. Since Boy Scouts [of which he was one] at the time were converted to being Hitler Youth, he found himself opposed to all that Germany had become and stood for. He found a short-wave radio and was listening to broadcasts from England which convinced him that Germans had become spineless wimps.
The Gestapo traced his radio receiver and he was arrested for treason and due to his mature reasoning ability was tried as an adult rather than a juvenile.
Whether by the authority of Article 12 of the 13 articles of faith and/or by the fact that what he was doing placed German Mormons in jeopardy, shortly after his arrest, he was excommunicated from the church. It is likely that his local Melchizedek Priesthood leader [Branch President] being a devout Nazi used a combination of Article 12 and the broader sense of church member jeopardy to justify excommunication. So he would not be a Mormon if convicted and executed.
It was alleged that the Branch President who excommunicated him did so without the needed priesthood authority of the Hamburg Mormon District president making the excommunication bogus and thus reversible. Yet similar to a Bishop's Court it is arguable that the Branch President did not need the approval of a District President any more that a Bishop would need a Stake President's approval to excommunicate an Aaronic Priesthood member [assuming he was a Teacher or Priest at the time]. A right of trial de novo by the District President would be in order if requested but if not asked for the excommunication would stand final and be "legal".
Beyond smoke and mirrors, it appears little effort was made by the church in Salt Lake City other than recognition that the excommunication was annullable but stopping short of a plea for clemency for Hubener. Previously the dumping of him as a member precluded that need. To plead clemency would have caused a distancing of the church from the favor of Hitler as has been previously explained in other writings and its selective failure to enforce its own article 12. That Distancing was a choice of the church, in effect acquiescence to the conduct of Hitler's regime. To do otherwise the church would have shot itself in the foot under Article 12.
Some language attributed to the Gestapo asserting that, "After the Jews we will deal with Mormons", had no authority of Hitler and has been asserted by apologists of the church to infer that Hitler held disrespect for Mormons on the same keel as Jews. Such is historically inaccurate.
After the war in 1946, Hubener was posthumously restored to full membership status in the church. By that time of course his soul already knew of the fraud of Mormonism as do the souls of every Mormon who have died since Joseph Smith, including Smith himself, but unfortunately they can't come back to tell us. It is also true that every person who has removed him or herself from the church is equally aware of the fraud of the church. Only the brainwashed remain faithful.
What Hubener said about Hitler's Germany applies equally well to the tactics of the Mormon Church in suppressing free will of Mormon members against the dictatorial position of the theocratic "King" of the church. In fact what happened to Hubener will happen to dissidents of the church both members and non-members if and when it should acquire secular rule after Mitt Romney's election to office as President.
A well repeated statement of the church contained in an article known as the Monthly Ward Teaching message of May, 1945 [ 2-1/2 years after Hubener's death] states that:
"Satan gains a great influence over the minds of members when He can get them to do their own thing. When the leaders speak, the thinking has been done!"
Before I began my mission of dissent, my first missionary companion, Grant Hardy of Salt Lake City, with fear in his eyes told me in the fall of 1971, that if I were to challenge the church leaders, "They will burn you". Five years, later after I began, my closest Melchizedek Priesthood friend begged me in a letter to stop what I had begun [ordaining a black man in 1976] or, "They will kill you". The letter was serious in that my meager security group brought the FBI into the picture. It was later dismissed as not relevant.
In both cases the "they" was in reference to church leaders as per chapter 21 of my book, No Mormon for President. So it is well known in Mormon circles that discipline [of varying degrees] is meted out by the hierarchy [or "ought" to be] to dissidents when they have challenged the hierarchy as to their legitimacy.
Should the feared coupe of the Mormon quest for empire occur, as outlined in No Mormon For President, with the election of Mitt Romney to the presidency and we become saddled with a theocratic "King" either Monson or Romney, you can be sure that the fate of Hulmeth Hübener will be visited upon those who refuse to bow the knee to God's vice regent king on earth but hopefully sans the guillotine!
Had Hubener not been executed and, later, after the end of the war had been free to follow dictates of conscience with reference to his own Mormon Church, as I have done, he would have discovered that ultimately what Hitler had posited as the right to rule the world would later be posited by his own Church after securing Mitt Romney in the U.S. Presidency thus crossing Senator Church's dreaded "Abyss of No Return" as exposed in chapter 19, No Mormon For President.
It appears to me that Hubener had the metal to discover the truth as I have and to do what I have done in exposing and resisting the fraud of Mormonism. I would surely find him an able and welcome companion in this work. So even though Helmuth died fighting against Hitler's tyranny he would also be willing to sacrifice life to defeat the ultimate tyranny of Mormonism which, in 1942, he was too young to discover.
The legacy of Helmuth Hubener will ultimately impact Mormon Melchizedek Priesthood leaders in a negative way.
** That scenario was duplicated by the American Patriot Act on the heels of 9-11. Both pieces of legislation had been prepared in advance of the anticipated calamities. Both were based on exaggeration designed to instill fear of terrorism. In America anthrax laced letters were sent to congress members expressing an unwillingness to pass the act without first reading it. The anthrax changed most minds.

Doug had completed a mission for the British Mission in 1951 with the title of Mission Architect. He consulted with church prophet David O' McKay for approval for construction of the London Temple and was responsible for the preliminary design.>
later in life Doug became disenchanted with the closed nature of the church leadership and sought meetings with them concerning issue which they refused to discuss. That refusal led to his open struggle to force change where and when needed.
