CLEVELAND, OH - Today, Congressman Dennis Kucinich announced the creation of a new movement-based political action committee: Kucinich Action. This new organization is the next step in a movement that has empowered hundreds of thousands of concerned citizens to take action over the last forty-five years of Kucinich's career. Kucinich Action will endeavor to build a powerful grassroots movement and empower individuals to engage within the political process.

"Our movement is and always has been about more than one leader or one campaign. Kucinich Action is a natural evolution of what our movement has been doing: standing up, speaking out, acting on our beliefs, and leading to change the outcome on behalf of the people," said Kucinich."It is also about enabling individuals to acquire the skills to participate and engage in the process of government decision making at all levels.

Don McTigue, the PAC's treasurer, said of the organization:

"Dennis has always been a champion of bold ideas and courageous stands. And if there's one thing Dennis is known for, it's changing the outcome. Whether it is saving a municipal electric system, community hospitals, a steel mill, parks, fire stations, municipal services, transportation services, or libraries, Kucinich has a proven ability organize to create positive outcomes that others have deemed impossible. This new organization will empower others to take charge and change the outcome through organization and meaningful engagement with the political process."

Kucinich Action will also courageously advocate dynamic initiatives and identify and support bold, independent-minded leaders who are strong enough and wise enough to advocate and implement policies that can transform our communities, our nation, and our world.

"Corporate control permeates every part of our political and economic system. Unprecedented court decisions and a deluge of corporate contributions have corrupted our political system and diminished the power of ordinary individuals," said Kucinich.

"But throughout history, we have seen individuals rise up and change the direction of our nation. Together, with the active participation of individuals, groups and organizations, we can strengthen our communities, create peace, regain our liberties, reform monetary policy, conserve the air, water and land, and reclaim our nation. It is time to take charge."
