Record Heat, Ferocious Storms, And Godzilla: The Anti-Environmental Industry Is Melting In A Sea Of Ridicule
By Rev. Dan Vojir
The country's heating up - and so is the laughter against the anti-global warming freaks.
::::::::
"The Debate's Over - No Global Warming" - Sean Hannity
MORE THAN 2 DOZEN CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY SET ALL-TIME RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS WEEKEND | Accuweather.com reports the cities include "Atlanta, Ga.; Columbia, S.C.; Knoxville, Tenn.; and Raleigh, N.C." Charlotte, North Carolina is expected to break or tie its all-time high temperature for the third consecutive day.
The Global Warming Conspiracy industry has been around a long time and it has teamed up with just about every anti-environmental group under the sun to create as much disdain and fear of environmentalism as possible. For example, did you know that, according to religious pseudo-historian, David Barton, environmentalism is really an anti-Christian religion, since, in his mind, environmentalists worship the creation more than the creator? And Rick Santorum has called environmentalism the "Green Dragon."?
And, of course, Apocalyptic Global Warming was created by the Nazis.
All of the most outlandish conspiracies and assumptions will be tested this summer, of course, with a sweltering country trying to cope with it all: denials will be considered lunatic or just plain boring.
But they'll be continuing as the bulwark of a group that wants no government regulation of consumption or energy. They will even present themselves as the REAL experts in the fields of global meteorology:
Tom DeWeese of the American Policy Center:
The bottom line is, CO2 is not a poison to human beings, CO2 is not affecting the atmosphere, there is absolutely no evidence, I can say this with absolute confidence, there is no evidence of man-made global warming causing problems. We are actually going through a cooling period right now, which is going to increase over the next few years, it's cyclical, it happens.
And then there's this undisputed "fact":
MYTH 8: Global warming will cause more storms and other weather extremes.
FACT: There is no scientific or statistical evidence whatsoever that supports such claims on a global scale. Regional variations may occur. Growing insurance and infrastructure repair costs, particularly in coastal areas, are sometimes claimed to be the result of increasing frequency and severity of storms, whereas in reality they are a function of increasing population density, escalating development value, and ever more media reporting.
And the group of anti-environmental ostriches has come up with a variety of conspiracy theories:
Global Warming is a plot:
- of the United Nations for global governance.
- of climate science researchers to attract more federal funding.
- of right-wing political leaders to promote nuclear power.
- of the left wind to "de-industrialize" the western world.
Cue The Laughter
It is a distinctly human trait to laugh at people and their baseless conspiracy theories, especially the ones that try to use "science" to debate in the world of science, so in the wake of the recent weather developments who can we laugh at the most heartily? The Cooler Heads Coalition for one. Along with the National Center Center for Public Policy Analysis , it has battled critics to its ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff while "dispelling the myths of global warming by exposing flawed economic, scientific, and risk analysis". Then there are the think tanks of the Heritage Foundation and the Heartland Institute , which launched an extensive ad campaign suggesting that people believing in global warming were terrorists and murderers (they featured the Unabomber and Charles Manson).
Jon Stewart of the Daily Show should be in tune with these agencies' recent press releases - if any.
Stay tuned.
In the meantime, the below video weather spoof has gone viral, indicating that America can laugh a the dire situation itself: taking the weather extremes to the extremes. It's a wonderfully wacky world we live in, isn't it?
