poem

::::::::

the antithesis
fell in my lap
like a hot antidote
as the sun threw
its best pitch
directly at my head
distracting the dull throb
like a hoarseness
in the throat
for a moment
leaving only the monotony
of another political season
of bankers & real estate moguls
calmly dressed
reassuring
claim denying insurance manipulators
none of whom
have seen
that the suits will wrinkle
& then burn
off the plastic mannequins
motionless in the window
when the sun
finds clarity
      of purpose
