Please Remember, Numbers Are People!

The Energy and Commerce Department has released a district by district summary of what the GOP Ryan plan for Medicare and Medicaid will do to the elderly, the disabled, pregnant women, children, and many others. The plan, which was adopted by almost all Republican house members, will have disastrous effects in every district.

The publication allows you to plug in your own district, anywhere in the country. If you have curiosity about other districts and the impact of the GOP votes and support for the Ryan Path, check them out, also. Remember, the numbers represent people. These people are your fellow citizens. Don't care? Not interested? Oh, well? We can't afford to help these people?

Keep thinking like that! You may end up becoming one of those numbers. Someone you love and care about may be one of those numbers. Your neighbors, your friends, your family? Are they not important to you? They are obviously not important to the Republican Party.

The GOP And Paul Ryan To Kill More Than Medicare And Medicaid!

As you look at the summary of the effects on your Congressional district, think priorities. Think also, that almost every Republican Senator and every Republican Congressman voted 'Yes'. That 'Yes' vote must not be forgotten. That 'Yes' vote must not go unchallenged!

Part of that 'Yes" vote included support for $4.2 trillion dollars in additional tax cuts to the wealthiest corporations in this country. I have pointed out in previous articles:

  • The plan cuts taxes to the wealhtiest of corporations and individuals by $4.2 Trillion dollars.
  • The plan pays for the tax cuts by cutting programs for the poor and middle class by $4.5 Trillion dollars.

PRIORITIES! PEOPLE!

What To Do When The Numbers Trouble You!

After you read the effects that the Republican AGENDA will have on you, your friends, your neighbors, YOUR FAMILY, or even strangers that ARE people, not numbers, send an email to to your Representative. Send a letter to your newspaper. Stop sitting back. Stop being apathetic. Make a difference, or at least, make a statement.

PRIORITIES! PEOPLE!

Authors Bio:
I am an 'older' progressive; a holdover from the hippie generation. I have raised 3 children, am a proud grandmother, and an outspoken political junkie. I have worked in the healthcare field for 30 years, both for insurance companies and for the other side, so I know my way around the health care industry. I have forgotten more than anyone should ever know about our health care system. Bad enough that my memory loss is insufficient to erase all of the dishonest policies of the insurance industry, I even have memories of fraud on the provider side as well.

I was a whistleblower in the mid-90's, reporting illegal denial of necessary medical care to patients.

To the best of my recollection, I do not believe that I have ever voted for a Republican. I have ethics and a sense of fair play, therefore the Republican party does not qualify as a choice for me.
