Mitch McConnell's Number One Goal is Not Helping Americans; It's Defeating President Obama

By Mark Karlin

Asked what his party's main political job will be in the new Congress, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell answered, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President [Barack] Obama to be a one-term president."

::::::::

You've heard the phrase "kick the ball down the field," of course?

Well, that is just what Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is trying to do.

Before the 2010 elections, the Republicans promised, if elected, to put America immediately on a new path (which is really the old path that got us into this mess under three GOP presidents beginning with Reagan.) But within hours after sweeping election victories, McConnell "kicked the ball down the field."

As an Ohio citizen wrote to the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Responding to an interview question recently, asking what his party's main political job will be in the new Congress, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell answered, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President [Barack] Obama to be a one-term president."

Funny, I thought the No. one reason we elected and paid our representatives was to produce legislation to further the best interests of the American people. I didn't realize it was for purely partisan activities, placing party ahead of country.

In the last two years, literally hundreds of pieces of legislation that would have benefited Americans were passed by the Democratic House of Representatives, only to languish and die in the Senate, due to obstructionism from McConnell and his Republican caucus.

Americans want results, not two more years of "kicking the ball down the field."
