Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Announce a Joint Rally at the National Mall in Washington DC to counter Glenn Beck and the Teabaggers

::::::::

Tonight Jon Stewart finally announced his much awaited "big announcement" on his show "The Daily Show", one of Comedy Central's most popular programs. Jon Stewart has been hinting to an upcoming announcement for over a week now. His fans starting the trumpeting for a counter rally to the rally Glenn Beck and Fox News spent months promoting. Mr. Stewart tonight told his audience the show had secured the National Mall in Washington on October 30th for what he called "The Rally to Restore Sanity." Stephen Colbert appeared in person on the set of the "Daily Show" to counter Jon's announcement with a foreshadowing of his own soon to follow announcement.

Additional details about Jon Stewart's announcement can be found at the website www.rallytorestoresanity.com .

On the website Jon provided the following glimpse into what the rally will bring:

"Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while."

Immediately after Jon's show Stephen Colbert followed with his faux right-wing persona to announce his own march on the National Mall also on October 30, 2010 the "March to Keep Fear Alive".

Additional details about Stephen Colbert's announcement can be found at the website www.keepfearalive.com .

On the website Stephen provided the following glimpse into what the rally will bring:

"America, the Greatest Country God ever gave Man, was built on three bedrock principles: Freedom. Liberty. And Fear -- that someone might take our Freedom and Liberty. But now, there are dark, optimistic forces trying to take away our Fear -- forces with salt and pepper hair and way more Emmys than they need. They want to replace our Fear with reason. But never forget -- "Reason" is just one letter away from "Treason." Coincidence? Reasonable people would say it is, but America can't afford to take that chance."

Few additional details were offered but Jon Stewart said it would be "two or three hours one saturday for some nice people to get together for some fun."
