Now and End of Life

Pull Up Anchor Often

Howling storms blow this now-creaky boat about

Dark clouds haunt my heart

Be brave, ship captain, and ride this out

Trust your fate to the winds for what the winds impart

................

Be not hurt when you or other's veer off course

This ship will not be always lost

The final port obscured can not be too far off

Though right now I pitch and toss

.................

Let the sails be torn to bits and shreds

This boat be pitched and wrenched in the froth and foam

Gone is the desire to be rocked by this sea

This turbulence buys me the peace of home

..................

Storms have come and gone and I am still afloat

But with each test I smile and loosen my grip,

With each raging storm I belong less to this tiny boat

Some day I will give this world the slip

..................

To slip away, silently far out to sea

To sail into the sunset rosy and red

Nothing here is worth taking nor can be

To leave behind all I should feel no dread

.................

I catch the wind in the sails of my mind

Welcome that this life should one day end

I pull up anchor often and one day will cut the rope

Be light my heart and soul and ascend

Authors Bio:
I am a hippy that never dropped out. I have held on to impossible idealism and will not give up. I think the human race is a ticking time bomb and we are at the last tick. So what is the good of slow careful pragmatism that allows time for it all to happen with less than miraculous speed ? Right now we need near-impossible idealism or we need to go extinct so we can stop killing our planet. Other life forms may need it after we have almost destroyed it. Humans seem to be a very clever but unwise species that is not making it. At the very least we could go down with a little dignity. We have no planetary culture with both head and heart. And our numbers are so great we must have that. See you next lifetime on another planet incarnated in another species, I guess.
