Counter Terrorism Mamas and WMD Survival

By Jason Paz

In the age of miniaturized atomic weapons, they can enter the country in a modest suitcase or a golf bag. The first warning will be the blast itself. If a person is within a kilometer of it, he is toast. Outside this radius, the chances of survival are good with a little common sense.

Welcome!
The terrorists have split into small cells of two or three thugs to attack us common people. They want to strike fear in us so we will hide under our beds while they run amok destroying our freedom. Counterterrorism Mamas

Home Grown Terrorists
No longer do enemy agents appear as refugees from a greasy spoon. Born here they speak our language as well as we do or maybe even better. Many of them have studied in our universities to have a leg up for obtaining more responsible jobs. For sure, they have advanced from the quick hit suicide bombers in the shopping centers. They might spend a couple of years selecting a target site and developing tactics to maximize damage. If possible, they will plan an escape route or use devices that enable them to live to fight another day.

Our authorities have a defeatist attitude
Agencies such as the FBI and CIA spend much of their resources to excuse failure and to excise whistle blowers. The Homeland Security is going in the same direction, the bureaucracies serve to perpetuate themselves and rarely achieving any more than that. Their main success lies in persuading just about everyone there are weapon(s) of mass destruction. The nuclear bomb remains the only such weapon. The others commonly mentioned have serious drawbacks, which limit them as to range and killing power.

Head Hunters
Given proper support and a modicum of luck, a small group of assassins can eliminate anyone in the world. This factor exaggerates the power and influence of even the weakest actors on the scene. As the terrorists fractionalize command and control, this will increase in importance.

The Patriots Alien and Sedition Acts
Passed during the chaos after 9/11, the Patriot Act is bad legislation. It abridges the Bill of Rights, particularly Amendment One [free speech] and Amendment Five [eminent domain]. Essentially, anyone can steal your house and if you object to the theft the government, can put you into prison. The terrorists eliminated you without a shot being fired.

Neutralizing Nuclear Blast Effects

Logistics Limit Enemy Bombs to One Kiloton
If you see a flash as bright as the sun, hit the ground. Up to a kilometer from the center, the heat and blast effects are devastating. Less so further out, remain prone to avoid the shock wave and its echoing aftermath. After two minutes, your chances of survival are good if you avoid ionizing radiation. These subatomic particles penetrate your body at the speed of light killing cell nucleii. Your skin blocks Alpha particles and your clothing the Beta ones. A newspaper page is enough to protect your exposed areas. Canned and frozen goods are safe. If you run out of bottled water, collect rain water in a bucket wait for the residue to settle then scoop water from the top.

Defeating Enemy Chemical Agents
Chemical agents are unreliable subject to the vagaries of weather and wind. The enemy must deliver it in quantities sufficient to saturate your clothing and he needs you to inhale deeply. Instead, if you move smartly away from the impact area and wash thoroughly you should be Okay. The highly over-rated nerve gas isn't a gas at all. If your companions become woozy and begin to fall down, they are failing to a blood agent such as cyanide or arsenic that inhibits blood to the brain. The traditional mustard gas might produce a blister, which you shouldn't prick.

Enemy Biological Agents
If you don't own a washcloth but you do keep rodents as house pets, you may have a problem. Otherwise, sit tight eat canned and frozen food. George Bush and Osama bin Laden want you to cower in a corner easier to manage. They are two sides of the same coin make no mistake.

Authors Bio:
Born a month before Pearl Harbor, I attended world events from an early age. My first words included Mussolini, Patton, Sahara and Patton. At age three I was a regular listener to Lowell Thomas.
My mom was an industrial nurse a member of the AFL/CIO. My dad was a painting contractor. We shopped at the Working Man's Store.
Dad's reading matter was the Old Mole the house organ of the Socialist Workers Party. I played the saxophone and became a young fan of Charlie Parker, Lester Young and Duke Ellington. Naturally, I gravitated to the Civil Rights movement.
After college to avoid the draft, I joined the US Army Reserve. Alas, this came to crowd control, which was a euphemism for busting radical potheads. When I ducked out of this duty, my commander bundled me off to a unit doomed to go to Vietnam. Ironically, my old unit went to Vietnam and the new one stayed home.
I studied economics in graduate school where I watched America go mad with war. Afterwards, I joined the rat race for a decade.
When Ronnie Reagan became President, I took up residence in Israel.
The 11 books listed below describe my adventures in Israel.
The articles reflect additional thoughts that expand on the author's ten volumes Genesis Begins the Millennia. The work begins in 1995 with a fictional account of ordinary Israelis absorbed with everyday events. There are extraordinary happenings the characters gradually recognize as portents of the Messianic Age. Volumes four and five show why the Messiah decided to delay His arrival.
Volumes six through ten [Tradebombers] begin six weeks before the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy. Again, the characters portray ordinary citizen reaction to extraordinary events.
