Venezuela demands the extradition of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles from his refuge in Miami. Posada is accused of leading a successful plot involving others, serving US officers among them, to destroy a Cuban airliner in flight back in 1976.

This crime was the very first of many such atrocities: The mass destruction of the helpless and innocent passengers on a public conveyance in order to make some political point.

• Today's USA is not ... if it ever was ... a constitutional regime. Rather, a globe girdling empire, run for the benefit of extremely wealthy elites who may or may not dwell in North America.

As the oil resources of the Iraqi province are being distributed we see that Royal Dutch Shell or British Petroleum are as American as apple pie -- or Exxon-Mobil. The cost of this exercise is of course borne by the ordinary people in both the USA and in Iraq. This is just one example; the same process operates in the Congo, in Asia, or anywhere else you see international business at work.

In Iraq, the stripping of their resources and the suppression of their people at the hands of invaders is obvious. But in the USA the corruption of the national polity, always a problem, but without precedent today, its looming bankruptcy, the destruction of the environment, the degradation of the mass of the population, and their lack of proper public health are all the costs of empire. This every bit as much as are the million and a half dead Iraqis.

To accomplish all this we maintain not only an immense military, occupying not less than 700 stations beyond the US borders, but an equally immense subversive apparatus involving literally every public or private US entity operating within yours of other foreign nations.

• People like Posada Carriles can not be sanctioned in any way by the US state because they ARE the US state.

And this situation must worsen further. We see in the most classic manner here in the USA Fascism growing daily in strength, as corrupt money is used to mobilize the newly-unemployed and dispossessed. This is being done in exactly the same manner as Thyssen or Krupp von Bohlen and their ilk financed Hitlerism. I speak of course of the Tea Bag Movement.

The elitist Obama government is supported by the educated, culturally liberal minority ... but these people enjoy life at the top of the food chain every bit as much as anyone and their contempt and fear of the great masses is barely concealed.

Certainly it is plain to the unemployed and hungry ... and enough of both classes will move yet further to the right to allow the militarization and mobilization of the US to proceed to a still greater extent.

The implications for Venezuela and other nations are obvious.
