It's past time New York legalized recreational cannabis. Colorado and other Western states are now having economic growth now that cannabis is legal and regulated. Cannabis legalization brings money into the economy, deprives organized crime of revenue to function, keeps people out of jail, and ends the war on poor people and on minorities. We all know minorities disproportionately get convicted for marijuana and for other drugs, when whites use them at higher rates. Also no one dies from cannabis use, and the opiates responsible for our current high overdose rate are perfectly legal despite being dangerous.
