When I was writing a comment to one of the article right here at OpEdNews.com, it made me think of how Bush & Co. could pull an October surprise that would probably take this Mark Foley Scandal and put it on the back burner. If Chris Hedges is right, and the Eisenhower Battle Group is headed towards Iran, and The Enterprise Battle Group remains in the Middle East, then maybe this Administration in doing again, the same thing it did to give Bush the 2004 elections, start another war. This would be the most flagrant violation of the use of power he has ever pulled. He has NO basis for an attack on Iran. If North Korea can detonate a nuclear device, then why would Iran's research warrant an attack? Is it because North Korea doesn't have oil fields, or isn't as close to Israel? No, it would be to turn the mid-term elections in the Republican's favor. If they did this, and if they controlled both houses again, then who would charge them on this violation? Don't put this past Bush. He will do it as long as he believes he can get away with it.

What the Democrats need to do, is to propose an emergency resolution in Congress to stop Bush from starting a war in Iran until after the elections. They can word it anyway they wish. It could be a resolution to prevent an attack on another country unless in self-defense until the elections are over or it could be to try to suspend his authorization to use military power in any new areas until the elections. The Democrats have good lawyers, they can think up the right way to put it.

Now I know what you readers are thinking, this would NEVER fly. You're right. With a House and Senate controlled by the Republicans, it probably wouldn't. It might however, if enough Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their seats because of their loyalty to someone that is seen as a warmonger by a majority of the American people. Maybe Bush couldn't actually muster the votes to stop the resolution. It would be awkward for a politician to vote against it. Maybe the Democrats should listen to somebody else for a change. Somebody like me.

The Democrats should start raising hell NOW. They should be on talk shows on the radio and on TV. They should be inserting these possible Bush plans in their campaign spots. They should go to the American people and make them aware of what is happening. Even if these resolutions haven't got a chance in hell of getting out of committee, they should try to legislate us out of another foreign war by this president. It will serve a myriad of purposes. It will possibly be voted for, and then it will have stopped hostilities until we get a Democratic House and maybe a Senate in Congress. It will bring awareness of how this President uses War and conflict for political purposes. It would, if the President does attack Iran, prove that what the Democrats said he would do, HE DID. Lastly, it would serve as a reminder of how the Democrats tried to stop another ugly war, and won't be held accountable if it happens. They will probably lose a lot less votes if we happen to be in a conflict with Iran at election time.

These are my proposals. The Democrats can take it or leave them. I've seen them duck for cover with this administration, but I've also seen the Democrats stand tall as in the Patriot Act reauthorization. I believe that President Clinton was trying to send a message to the Democrats when he tore into Chris Wallace. I don't believe that he "lost" it with Wallace. Clinton doesn't do things like that unless he did it on purpose. He is the consummate politician. He did it to send a message to the Democrats to stop taking the "high road" with these connivers. If the Democrats have to get down and dirty like the Republicans, they do it to get their point across and win. I just hope some influential Democrat reads this and takes my advice. Maybe they would win some elections, and save our country from another war in the process.
