Remember when John Roberts told us at his hearing how much he respected the will of the people and it was not his place to overturn that will. Well, it did not take him long to come charging out of the chute like a raging activist bull and show his true colors . . . now did it?
In his very first case on the bench Roberts had given very strong indications by his confrontational questions that he was determined to overturn the Oregon assisted suicide law, which had TWICE been approved by voter initiative. And sure enough in a 6-3 decision today he turned up in the extreme radical minority with . . . oh, you'll just never guess . . . yes, that's right, Scalia and Thomas, in doing their best to again stubbornly try to defy the will of the majority.
Take for example the case of Roe v. Wade. At his hearing, Roberts stated an opinion that it was settled law. Alito refused to say. Both men, if given the opportunity would without hesitation in fact cast the deciding vote to turn this precedent upside down, notwithstanding their incessant babbling about their respect for stare decisis. But Alito was already on the record stating in no uncertain terms his belief that Roe was constitutionally wrong, a view that Robert Bork believes Alito no doubt continues to hold. So in sidestepping repeated attempts to get him to confirm or deny this, that makes Alito the hands down evasive champion.

Who would your advertisers feel if you ran their commercials and did NOT give out the phone numbers where people could obtain those products? How effective would that be? For those of you with media prominence, you have the power to inspire so many other people. Use that power just as we expect our senators to use the power that they UNILATERALLY control to enforce a filibuster of the dangerously evasive Alito. At the end of the night, we don't mind if the question dodging Alito rides home with a Golden Globe for "Most Evasive Supreme Court Nominee". But we'll be damned if we'll let him steal a lifetime achievement award, as the fifth and deciding vote to corrupt our Supreme Court for the next 30 years, without the most valiant fight we can muster.
