It's sickeningly ironic that millions of lives -- their very subsistence -- depends on the deaths of thousands of Americans serving in Iraq.

I'm sure the irony flew right over the heads of our congressmen when they attached raising the minimum wage onto the war funding bill.

If we have to force employers to pay a "minimum" wage, which isn't even a "living" wage, it should stand on its own and not be piggy-backed onto maiming, death and destruction.

They die so we can earn a "minimum-half-living-third-world" wage.

I don't know who was diminished more by this bill...the American worker or the American soldier.

Congress may have a slim majority, and they might think they have control, but the truth is that the most unpopular president in history -- and possibly the most criminal -- still has the power to cow Congress and the power to get what he wants.

He wanted the money to kill more of our servicemen more than he wanted a living wage, and that is the only reason he put his signature to this war funding bill.

The truth is, Bush doesn't give a rat's ass about the American worker. Congress would be well-advised to take a close look at Bush's signature, because there just might be a "signing statement" added to it that makes the minimum wage go poof!
