If the democrats sweep the congress in 2006, and Bush gets a clear picture that he's going to be impeached and even indicted, could he and Cheney resign, say November 15, and let Dennis Hastert become president, so they could be pardoned and so the Republicans would be guaranteed two more years in the White House?
Could they get away with it? COuld the Democrats fillibuster the effort? Or would the lame duck republican congress be able to pull it off?
