Last night, some Texas redneck drove his truck over a field of crosses set up to memorialize the 1800+ American GIs killed in Iraq. More likely, it was a couple of redneck kids who borrowed their drunk redneck father's truck. This is Texas, where they drag African Americans behind cars to their death.
This is the real soul of the right wing in the raw. This is what you find when you get to the heart of Tom DeLay, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Trent Lott, Bill Frist, Rick Santorum and the great majority in the house of representatives and senate. These cynical frauds are trashing the memorials of not just the 1800 men and women who lost their lives in Iraq. They are trashing the hundreds of thousands who died fighting for an America to be proud of, the tens of millions who fought, the hundreds of millions who sacrificed for America's democracy and the bill of rights.
Then we have the total scum on TV and radio who are desperately sliming Cindy Sheehan. They say horrible things about her because they know that she is breaking through the media blackout, getting the word out, getting other parents and family members of Americans killed in Iraq to resonate with her words. These right wing media lowlifes know that their boy is falling faster and faster, that in the last two months, ten million Americans have decided that he IS a loser, and a bad leader, doing a bad job in Iraq, that Bush is not trustworthy.
There's a simple cure""not for the radio and TV whores who have trashed the American media. They need to be fired and replaced with real journalists who have ethical standards they work and live by. But most red, rightwing Americans have to grow up and wake up. They have to learn, like most grown men learn that fathers are not perfect, that the US is not perfect. They have to learn, like most mature men know that fathers can make mistakes and sometimes it is better to get guidance and help from others, that presidents make mistakes and even, that presidents need to be fired. They have to learn that America is not its president, not its wars, not its battles, that you can love America and disapprove of her president and her wars.
About half of the people in America have taken the steps towards maturity that allow them to see things this way. It is sad that it takes a a kilodeath alarm clock, killing thousands of innocent, brave American GIs to get another ten or twenty million to wake up. How many more lives must be lost before the soulless right wing politicians figure out that they are going to be fired too, for failing to lead, to function with integrity, with a single care about the USA.? But that's the good news. They can trash memorial crosses and slime Cindy, but they're doing on the way down, and soon, they will be out.
