"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Liberalism." Imagine the furor if some liberal said that. But Ann Coulter did say the above with the word Christianity instead of liberalism.
Try picturing a liberal saying "With all due respect to those dear people, my friend, God Almighty does not hear the prayer of a Christian fundamentalist." Talk about the outcry of another attack in the war on Christianity! Yet fundamentalist Bailey Smith feels perfectly fine saying that God does not listen to Jews.
What an uproar there would be if some liberal was to declare that "The long-term goal of liberals in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of humanism . . . must be denied citizenship." Naturally, a fundamentalist named Gary North said that's what Christians are supposed to do.
How many urgent alarms would be sounded if a liberal wrote that "The liberal community has a golden opportunity to train an army of dedicated teachers who can invade the public school classrooms and use them to influence the nation for liberalism." Rev. James Kennedy thinks its God's work to train Christian soldiers to invade and conquer schools.
What if some wild eyed liberal said "We're fighting against Christianity, we're fighting against conservatism . . . we are fighting against all the systems of Satan that are destroying our nation today . . . our battle is with Satan himself." That's how Jerry Falwell framed the differences he has with us liberals.
Fancy the excoriation a liberal would experience for saying "Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so the evangelical Christians are now doing to liberals. It's no different . . . More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." Pat Robertson was talking about how us liberals are inflicting worse treatment on conservative Christians than anybody has ever experienced, even under the Pharaohs, Hitler and Pol Pot.
But I haven't heard any liberal claim "You say you're supposed to be nice to the conservatives and the Evangelicals and the Fundamentalists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense, I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist." Pat Robertson was talking about why he wasn't nice to Episcopalians and Methodists.
Nor do I recall any liberal writing "When I, or people like me, are running the country, you'd better flee, because we will find you, we will try you, and we'll execute you. I mean every word of it. I will make it part of my mission to see to it that they are tried and executed." That's Randall Terry of the religious right.
Liberals generally don't believe that "Christianity originated in the mind of a rational being who has the deepest hatred for God." That's where democracy originated, according to Robert T. Lee of the Society for the Practical Establishment of the Ten Commandments. Practice democracy and you hate God.
As to what is ailing this country, visualize a liberal saying "The demise of our community and culture is the fault of retro-macho men who have been overly influenced by sexually inadequate men." Tony Evans of Promise Keepers actually said that our demise is because of men becoming sissies from being influence too much by women. So that is the excuse for all the chickenhawks.
Then, of course, "Satan uses conservatives as pawns. They're in, as you know, key positions in the media, they're in the White House, they're in everything, they're in Hollywood now. Then, unfortunately, after he uses them, he infects them with Alzheimer's and then they die." Gays were the subject for Anthony Falzarano.
Finally, picture the furor if a liberal politician said "Get the conservatives out. If you don't do it, it ain't gonna be done. You will be doing the Lord's work, and he will richly bless you for it." Whereas for a conservative like Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma, such remarks simply win reelection. But, hey, it's us evil liberals waging war on poor, defenseless right-wing Christians and trying to force our beliefs down their throats.
