A visible change can be witnessed in the behavior of Taliban residing in Pakistan as now they have been talking of peace and inter-religions harmony. It seems that the United States and Taliban based in Pakistan have reached to a deal as at the movement Mullahs in Pakistan have been ruling North West Frontier Province adjacent to tribal areas. It is ironic to note here that these Mullahs have been talking of peace in Pakistan, but inciting the innocent tribesmen for violence. These Mullahs have been creating hatred against the United States in the tribal areas. Both the Mullahs and Government have double standard. The US administration, it seemed, has also no clear policy vis-à-vis Taliban. As on the one hand the US has established good relations with Pakistani Taliban, but on the other hand it has been fighting a war against them in Afghanistan and tribal areas. In most cases innocent people fall victims to the mad and endless war both in Afghanistan and tribal areas.
NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, who is a nominee of Mullah Alliance, staunch supporter of Taliban, said that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and laid great stress on teaching and promotion of interfaith harmony.
He said that all the prophets have been sent to the world to attain peace. The Chief Minister expressed these views while addressing one day conference on "Interfaith Peace and Harmony". Akram Khan Durrani said that all the religions give the message of peace and love besides teaching the feelings of sympathy and serving the creations of God. The Holy Quran has categorically forbidden its followers from discriminatory attitude with the non-believers and from open criticism of those practicing religions.
He held certain forces working for vested interests responsible for the present day chaos and barbarism instead of religion adding that elements involved in unleashing atrocities over innocent Lebanese must be brought to book. Moreover, the people from different schools of thought all over the world condemned the air- strikes against the Lebanon.
The chief minister stressed that world community should unite and raise collected voice against the genocide of the people of Lebanon. In NWFP, Akram Durrani said the MMA had set a precedence of brotherhood, tolerance and mutual amity and created an atmosphere of trust and harmony where the minority is protected from discrimination as they are being given development funds equal to other members of the assembly.
The MMA government has set aside a considerable amount in the budget for the protection and renovation of the worship places of the minorities, he concluded.
Addressing the conference, Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs and Auqaf, Amanaullah Haqqani said that MMA government has provided the maximum protection to the minorities. No religion in the world allows unjust practices and teaches respect and honour for each other, he maintained.
The conference was also addressed by representatives of Christian, Sikh and Hindu communities and praised the policies of the MMA government towards minorities. The conference was addressed among other by Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandheri, Maulana Abdul Malik, Qari Roohullah Madani, Sardar Sardeep Singh, Haroon Sarab Diyal and Bishop Manormal.
The End
