There are now 2,556 confirmed American troop deaths as a result of the war in Iraq, a mission George Bush insists will continue until victory is complete, a mission in which the president honors the fallen by sending more men and women to die, a mission in which tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians have perished.
This war of choice in Iraq traverses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect-a moral boundary that George Bush regularly crosses with no noticeable twinges to his conscience. Does this president revere life only while its cells are developing? Once expelled from the womb, a child, having moved through the birth canal and slapped by the obstetrician to take its first breath, is cleaned, swathed in blankets, nursed, and, then, nurtured through elementary, middle, and high school, growing to young adulthood only to, finally, be exploited for endless war. That's the George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld bill for human life.
So let's do a little rewording: War would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of funding benefits for others-Halliburton, Bechtel, all the war profiteers and neocons who advocate The Project for the New American Century. War does not cross a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect because decency is not an issue in BushCo's plan for world domination.
Not according to George. He says it is immoral to use stem cells to benefit others. From his Crawford Ranch in 2001, Bush spoke about his belief that "human life is a sacred gift from our Creator." Continuing, George W. said:
I worry about a culture that devalues life, and believe as your President, I have an important obligation to foster and encourage respect for life in America and throughout the world.
Time for me to write it again-2,556 American troops killed in Iraq and tens of thousands of Iraqis dead as a result of George Bush values.
But scientific research that would provide hope for those with spinal cord injuries, diabetes, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's is a breach of the president's ethical boundaries.
Where's the morality in using our children, husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers to fight and die for oil, greed, and power and kill Iraqis for oil, greed, and power in a war that has betrayed our troops, their families, and the Iraqi civilization?
What does this jackass mean when he says that by supporting stem cell research, we cross "a moral boundary our decent society needs to respect?" George has lost his credibility when he pontificates on the "taking of human life."
Surely, George Bush will be judged by history as the president who didn't initiate the fall of our country but who, certainly, brought it to an explosive failure.
