Good Morning Middle America, welcome to your King of Simple News Network, where those who actually have to go to work everyday, get their news from those of us who actually have to go to work every day.
U.S. NEWS: Alert Reader (screen name - Alaska Rose), asked me to comment on Presidential hopeful Ron Paul, and also asked what I believed the dollar would be worth if we were to return to the gold standard.
On the first issue, it is very difficult for me to understand how any Middle American could not find themselves akin to the honesty and candor of Congressman Ron Paul. Call me crazy, but I have spent, and continue to spend, thousands of hours pouring over facts and figures that affect the ability of this country to survive intact, and Ron Paul’s philosophies seem our only hope at this particular juncture; at least for those of us in Middle America.
Abolish the IRS and the FED, says Mr. Paul. Get out of Iraq. Adhere to the Constitution. Reduce the size of Government. Wow, is this guy some kind of a nut job?
No, he’s a former medical doctor who has delivered more than 4,000 babies and formerly served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon. He is handily re-elected by his home constituents. He has NEVER taken a junket from a lobbyist. He has NEVER voted to raise taxes. He has continually voted to reduce spending and he doesn’t participate in the Congressional retirement plan. What a loser huh? His opponents very much hope that you believe just that. But then, I very much hope that you don’t.
Let’s look at just a couple of Mr. Paul’s points. Abolish the IRS: “Oh my gosh, we’ll all die.” Well, not really. If spending were reduced to the levels of the year 2000, we wouldn’t need the IRS. You see, the increases in spending since 2000, represent more than all the annual IRS collections. I heard that, “He’s just making that up.” Honest, I’m not.
What about abolishing the FED? I personally believe the FED and Alan Greenspan in particular have created much of this mess that we currently find ourselves in. So yes, I’m a proponent of not creating wealth with inflation and a printing press that has no backing other than government’s ability to tax it’s subjects… I mean citizens. Apparently the rest of the world agrees, as our dollar shrinks daily against nearly every currency in the world.
So now, a big one, the Iraq war. This is the largest talking point in the U.S., as it should be. Remember now, in my previous life I was a veteran, an old red-neck bush pilot and an Alaskan saloon owner. The point that I continue to make is, “We don’t have any help over there and we never did.” When we have that support from the remainder of the civilized world, we then have a cause that we can pursue. But, the little support that we did have, got their hat and went home. Ron Paul thinks we should do the same. And, at last count, about 70% of Americans agree. Congress doesn’t go to war, they send people to war.
So, take a look at Ron Paul, (ronpaul2008.com) and give me the downsides as well as the upsides. Tell me why your candidate is a better choice. I ask for civil discussions. I try hard every day to bring Middle American’s back together, please do the same and we may pull this thing off.
On the question of what the dollar would be worth if all dollars in circulation were compared to gold on hand? Some portion of a penny; so get out your metal snips.
I’ll write further on both of the above subjects, because they are important. I WANT to hear your comments.
Wake-Up Middle America, we’re burning daylight.
