Each nation in the Middle East has the right to exist

In reading this article after the Democrats debated in New Hampshire recently, I do applaud presidential candidate, Governor, Bill Richardson in stating he would get our troops out of Iraq and not merely “change the mission” as he charges Senator Clinton, Senator Obama and former Senator Edwards would do.

This article cites, “Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards all reaffirmed that they would leave tens of thousands of troops in Iraq indefinitely.” To that I opine, not good enough as the U.S. casualty rate edges closer to 4,000.  Not good enough as over one million Iraqi citizens have been killed.  Quite frankly, Iraq is not ours to do what we want with.

I am glad to see that he cites the billions spent could be going to fund cancer research and I do suppose the billions upon billions being spent could go to other diseases that threaten and kill Americans every day.  I am glad he cites that Americans want an end to this war.  That was our battle cry last November and it went unheard.

In reading where Richardson said, “Leaving any troop behind will prevent us from moving forward toward stability in the region. I would talk to Iran. I would make sure the entire issue is tied to stability in the Israeli-Palestinian issue. You have to deal with the entire issue." Coming from a candidate with a vast wealth of foreign policy experience, this is admirable with his involvement of Iran.  I do think we need outside brokers to help stem the tide of violence between Israel and Palestine and I do feel Iran can help us.  That is if we treat them as partners in peace.  Then again, why would they after our treatment of their president in his recent visit to New York City especially after his speech at Columbia University?

In fact the Jewish community in Iran was deeply angered at his treatment as one reads this article, Jewish community in Iran slams US protest against Ahmadinejad's visit

I was amazed in reading this passage in the above article, "The constant disrespect and disturbance demonstrated (during Ahmadinejad's speech at Colombia) prove once more that those claiming to be peace loving people have no real grasp of the concept,"

Oh if you are one of those believers that still think that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to “Wipe Israel off the face of the map”, let me set the record straight and tell you, it is false.  But, the mainstream media keeps harping on it and the American people believe it.

I want every single one of my readers to read this article which proves the above a fallacy, "WIPED OFF THE MAP" - The Rumor of the Century written byArash Norouzi

As written by Norouzi, it is extremely important for all of my readers to read this passage and then pass on to others, “Before we get to the infamous remark, it's important to note that the "quote" in question was itself a quote— they are the words of the late Ayatollah Khomeini, the father of the Islamic Revolution." He goes onto write, "the actual words belong to Khomeini and not Ahmadinejad. Thus, Ahmadinejad has essentially been credited (or blamed) for a quote that is not only unoriginal, but represents a viewpoint already in place well before he ever took office.”

While I will not go into each point brought up within since I want to concentrate on what Richardson had to say, I do find it extremely important for all to read that article in its entirety.  The reason being is so you will see how the words cited were incorrectly translated.  You will also see the duplicitous nature of the American media by throwing around an incorrect phrase trying to demonize Ahmadinejad.

Getting back to what Governor Bill Richardson had to say of Iran, “We should not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Another cornerstone should be the strength and security of Israel. You cannot deny a nation the right to legitimately defend itself. You have to approach Iran with diplomacy, then use sanctions.”

This is wrong on so many fronts.  In an upcoming piece I will be delving further into Israel’s nuclear program, but to deny any nation its right to defend itself against enemies is wrong.  That is precisely how I read that quote.  He wants to deny Iran its right to defend itself.

President Ahmadinejad has refuted our claims he is trying to build a nuclear weapon where he cites he is doing so for peaceful purposes.  But, just suppose he is? While I do not like nuclear weapons, if Israel has them; why can’t Iran?

I have written in the past where Israel has 400 nuclear war heads.  So, who is the bigger threat?  When Richardson speaks of Israel’s security; what about Iran’s security?  Don’t the Iranians count?  I guess not according to Richardson or any other politician within the United States who supports Israel’s right to exist above all other nations.

Any nation’s right to exist does not trump another nation’s right to defend themselves and their existence on this planet.  This backwards thinking is how we got into this mess in the first place.  We are shocked and awed at what some have called radical extremism coming from Muslim nations, but when they see the United States backing Israel at the expense of their security; wouldn’t you be angry if you were a Muslim?  We are failing to fully understand the blow-back affect.
