I suppose people’s reactions across this country were of horror as they heard Cho Seung-Hui speak from the grave that is if he is buried yet. The ones I do care the most for are the victims of this massacre. How horrific it must be for all involved.
I do believe as many of them watched him speak so angrily in that video, it was salt being rubbed into an open wound. For those still alive and left behind, I would say it is akin to facing one’s rapist, but you do not have the opportunity to confront him as victims of rape do in a court of law. At least the victim’s families were able to confront the likes of the Green River Killer, Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer as those serial killers took the lives of many more. Cho will never hear their outrage since he took his own life.
In the case of Jeffrey Dahmer, the victim’s family spoke back to him and angrily so. One even exploded in court saying “I hate you, Jeffrey Dahmer” and that was a sense of closure for that family. They were then able to move on. Sadly and angrily, Cho will never hear any such words coming from his victims.
Part of me hoped that they would not air this feed not only to protect the victims but also not allowing him to speak of the reason why. Quite frankly, I do not care how he felt of his victims. It is how we feel of these victims that matters. Somehow, we must protect them even if it just to voice how we feel of the many lives lost and prayers said for all of them.
