Hi Liz,

I wanted to comment on the remarks by MCM (Mark Crispin Miller) that you
circulated. In the Busby-Bilbray race in San Diego,
as is the case throughout the U.S., activists are not
only fighting to see that we have a just election
outcome. We are fighting to save the Democratic
Party.

The only reason that Dennis Hastert could override the
election process, and install a candidate before all
the votes are counted, is because the Democratic
Party- as we know it- has once again gone to Muscle
Beach, and had sand kicked in its face.

We acknowledge what the Democratic Party leadership
will not: we are in a fight to the death with an
opponent that knows that the goal is not to win
elections. The goal is to install its candidate in
office. We have known this since 2000.

It is up to us to fend for ourselves.

The only option that any Democratic voter, faced with
flawed electronic voting, has is to vote absentee on a
paper ballot- where this option is available. And if
voting absentee requires an explanation, then any
Democratic voter in America can legitimately say that
the prospect of having to vote on a defective,
vulnerable machine, makes her/him too ill to go to the
polls.

We need to coalesce around this one idea. Every
American has a right to see their vote in black and
white on paper. When all other paper options are
denied, vote absentee. Hand deliver your ballot to
the Board of Elections. Send a message to state
legislatures, Congress, and the world that American
voters have lost confidence in their election system.

Thanks, Liz.
